Lovely course
Great value for money, a good mix of challenging long holes and short, particularly along the back 9. Lovely views and very peaceful. Fairways play well, greens slightly heavy but likely due to rain over last few days before playing. Great staff too
Great value
Nice course with some great views. Some work underway on a couple holes towards end of back 9, so if a first timer be sure to check where you going as tracking apps and my England Golf app didn’t quite synch on a hole near the end of the back 9. That aside; a terrific course with friendly staff and for the time of the year decent greens. Good value for under 20!
Great value interesting course
Played in Spring on a lovely clear day - not a course i had played before despite local and frankly for the cost wasn't expecting much but it was actually a greta little course and a ridiculously cheap £13 for 18holes- stadd and members were very friendly as were greenkeepers etc- course clealry having a load of money being spent on it- course of 2 halves- 1st half is in the woods- some tight holes then back nine is out on the coast- amazing views- only thing to point out is course is hilly so would be a tiring carry - could see why lots of memebers were on buggies- pace of play was ok - we caught up as a 2 ball with a ladies competition which was pretty slow but the scenery was stunning and we not in a rush so no big deal - will defo play here again
Great course.
Friendly staff, lovely courses. Greens were good.
Last few holes (16/17) were a little confusing as the didn't correlate with the scorecard.
Lovely course.
Despite the weather being awful, the course was in very good condition. A few temporary greens (totally understandable) were in play.
Lovely course set within parkland and coastal scenery.
The welcome and friendliness of the staff was perhaps the best we’ve ever experienced. The food was great, making the whole experience one to remember
Definitely return
Porthpean G.C winter review
Very good conditions considering how bad the weather has been recently
Friendly staff who welcomed me Very nicely.
Will be returning soon.
Course has come on loads since the new ownership. Lot more tidier and presentable. When I played the course it's was quite wet and damp under foot but played really nicely. Really good general up keep of all facilities.
An interesting course with a slightly quirky layout. Dreadfully slow (there was a Corporate 10 x four ball ahead) but had pleasant chats with the (three at one point!) groups of members in front and behind while waiting on various tees. The greens were excellent and I look forward to returning on a quieter day
Lovely course, with amazing setting
This course is situated just outside St Austell on the coast and offers amazing sea and countryside views. It has a good variety of holes to test your golf, and plenty of hills to keep you fit. It is under new ownership and the course condition and greens have much improved since we last played in June. The staff are friendly, as are the other golfers so a very welcoming club to visit and play. I would highly recommend trying this golf club.
Awesome
I had the quietest loveliest round of golf on my own at Porthpean. Well worth the money I’ll definitely be back and I look forward to playing it again. Course was in great condition,
Be ware of the practice net, I hit a 7iron through it.
Definitely play again
Nice coarse with good mix of hole lengths and tricky approach
Lovely Course with Incredible Views
Was our first time playing this course and what a day out it was. Got to the course early and had the Full English Breakfast. Highly recomend the breakfast, was really good and very well priced. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. To start the round the front 9 are Parkland playing between trees and the back 9 you play with incredible views of Porthpean Bay. Course condition was amazing and speaking to staff they are planning multiple improvements which will be fun to see. Overall an amazing day out and for £18 per person, incredible. Will be coming back.
This was our first time at Porthpean. The course in general offers a variety of holes. Greens are decent but a bit pitted on a few holes.
There are a lot of hills and you feel like you've had a good walk.
Signposting could be better to find each hole.
The staff were friendly and we shall return.
Great value for money
I found this to be quite an unusual course, in that there are many blind tees, without a map or a marker, there are no yardage markers to help gauge your approach shots, and the holes zigzag about making it often tricky to know where to head for the next tee. The greens were slower than I’m used to also. Despite all of that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some really challenging holes, mixed with some relatively straightforward ones, all in decent condition and with incredible views of the coastline. I’ll be back.
