Winter blues....
Cold February day... Temporarily tees but enjoyable day
Poor condition
Course is in poor condition. Fairways are dry and bunkers are virtually unplayable from. Few tonne of good sand would help and more attention by the staff.
Good little course
This is a non-profit organisation that maintenance this community/municipal style course. That said, the course was in not too bad condition considering the exceptional dry spell we had this summer.
With very undulating fareways and greens with varying borrows this course poses a few challenges but, not being a particularly long course big hitters (who can drive straight) would negate a lot of the fairway hazards.
There are, however, next to no off course facilities like a fully functioning pro shop and bar/food outlets as far as I could make out.
All in all a challenging little course that is ok if you want to fill a few spare hours.
Play as last resort
Arrived in good time. When about to tee off a competition was about to start so they let me through. They’d been drinking and we’re constantly shouting fore for no reason. Beer cans were scattered around the course as well as litter. Guys were playing with their tops off and shouting to other golfers for a beer. A four ball ahead didn’t let me through for 8 holes even though I was always catching them on the tee box. There was no one ahead of them. The layout is poor unless you know the course. I had to ask people where the next tee was. White cones were used to mark tee boxes on some holes for yellow and reds. And these weren’t placed well. The course itself was good and the greens were good too. I’d only play here again as a last resort and would made sure I got there first thing.
golf in the sun , great day nice local course will play again
Nice cheap round
It was a scorching day and the greens were in the best shape for a while. Fairways were very dry but a great course for the 11 pound fee.
A good days golf
As usual the course was well maintained and a good test. This isn't the first time I've played here and won't be the last, it's great value for money!!
Great condition
We played after a heavy downpour of rain. It was still raining when we got there but the course was in great condition. The recent investment in drainage seems to be a great success.
Surprisingly Very Good
I've played Springhead Golf course more than any other course over the last 30 years and its a course I learnt to play golf on so I have a soft spot for it!
I did stop playing there about 10 years ago because the council did not spend the money required to keep it anywhere close to being in good condition. However, over the last few years since its being operated by another company I have to say it is in fantastic condition. The greens played really well and the course is being kept neat and tidy. Well done to those who have transformed this golf course.
Springhead nightmare
This course used to be a municipal course and little has changed, no dress code, people teeing off in groups of 5, beer cans and bottles left discarded around course, kids on course. Absolutely appalling and a complete rip off. There are much better courses available to play for the same or less. Take my advice and give this course a miss, it is not value!!
Springhead,bargain
Great value for £10,all fairways and greens in good condition, could do with a van to get refreshments after the 8th hole like you used to be able to.plenty of work gone into the course the last few years and is all the better for it now.
Mature course
This course presents an underrated challenge. The undulating surface makes fairway shots difficult and you are punished for errant shots off the tee. On a fair day some of the holes are stunning for what is in effect a municipal course. The greens have been cut a little short. Great value for money.
Change for the better.
Not played Springhead for a while, and I must say what an improvement! Greens were cut, fairway and rough defined, looks like lots of effort has gone into the improvements on draining, cutting back bushes to allow water flow through ditches. Will definitely play again.
Paid £12 from teeofftimes.
Course conditon improving
Played in a three ball nice day apart from chilly north easter wooly jumpers on, off, on, off again. Course played well one or two greens still a bit bare but generally improving as weather gets better.
Unbelievable that you rate this course 5 stars, that doesn't helother decent golfers who want a decent round of golf. No dress code,, poorly maintained, no sand in bunkers. Was a municipal course and has not been improved at all yet they charge prices equivalent to Beverley and Ganstead, it's a joke
