Enjoyable links golf at St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club
Played this links style course on a sunny breezy Monday afternoon in early October. Those holes with the wind behind you were usually reachable in regulation. Against the wind it was more of a challenge - but generously wide fairways and light rough meant inaccurate shots could usually be retrieved. Greens are in very good condition. A most enjoyable afternoon and well worth a visit.
Very well managed course
It was enjoyable to play at this fine course. And the club house facility is superb.
Hidden Gem
Played this with a voucher from AG Club. Having played it once before but in the wet.
I found the course to be in good condition, the rough not too long.
Bunkers could do with abit more sand (but that's the same with every club)
Greens rolled true even though they had been aerated.
Wound recommend this to anyone. Turn up nice and early enjoy the facilities And warm up before your round
Great inland links course
First time I played St Neots. Great course and some really testing par 3 and par 5 holes in particular. Great clubhouse with really friendly staff. The course held up really well compared it had nearly 36 hours of rain. Would defo play here again.
All a bit bleak!
Played this course as I'd been for a fitting with Titleist (excellent) and had time to kill while the clubs were made.
The lady in the pro shop was welcoming and provided some good info, particularly regarding the location of the tees as signage is pretty sparse.
The course is certainly links style and VERY exposed, there's barely a tree in sight and whilst the wind was blowing a bit for us making it tricky, I can imagine it could be virtually unplayable in more severe conditions.
The bunkers are well maintained and the greens decent although somewhat sandy when we played. There are some interesting undulation making them a proper challenge.
The clubhouse is only a few yesrs old and to be honest pretty cold and unwelcoming, although the young lady at the bar was very cheerful and smiley.
Triied the burger and chips which the chef brought out, think we caught him in a bad day as we received not as much as a smile. On top of that I left half of my burger (which I never do!), it looked great but tasted cheap and processed, pretty rank!
Would I go back? Well no, unless of course I revisit the Titleist fitting centre when it's pretty handy for passing the time!
