For an average golfer this is a good, fair, golf challenge.
The low stroke index par fours are a real challenge with some really nice holes which demand ball positioning rather than blasting the ball miles.
Some good par threes.
Greens were true.
Get into trees and life gets tough.
Bunkers need to be re-sanded - I was hitting through to mud and this made you unable to pop the ball up for short shots.
More holes need to indicate the 200 and 150 yardage into the green to help golfers.
Played here recently for the first time as a one ball after reading the positive reviews. The golf pro in the shop was very welcoming and helpful. Played the first 2 holes and caught up with a 3 ball who kindly asked me to join them. It turned out it was the club captain and vice captain ! They couldn't have been nicer. The guys really helped me as a first timer at the course, giving advice on where to aim and how to play the 'blind tee shot' holes.
The course was excellent, not long but not easy, lots to think about from the tee with well positioned hazards. Greens were a little slow but they were due to be cut the following day.
If the course was a little closer to my house, I probably would've enquired about membership !
I'll certainly be returning at some point in the near future and would have no issue recommending ramsey to a friend.
Played Ramsey the week before for the first time and had to come back. Awesome lay out and very nice course to look at with some challenging holes especially the long par 3's. Bar staff are very friendly and brought our drinks to the table outside. Was just a shame the pro shop was shut when I got there at 4.25pm as I was looking forward to having a look.
Nice course to walk round
Lovely course to play, greens & fairways in great condition, bunkers need some work, the staff & members were very welcoming & friendly, will be going back., would recommend this course to anyone, even beginners.
A nice test
I revisited the course after 30 years absence. A lovely memory of a course that has matured Well. Staff were very welcoming and if I am back in the area I will visit again.
Well run course with a welcoming community and obviously we’ll supported by the area.
Excellent little par 70 course!
First time playing this course,, first time golfing since 8 weeks of lockdown and thoroughly enjoyed it! Greens in decent condition, course layout very nice with some amazing unique little challenges... bit of water here and there.. some well placed bunkers protecting some seriously challenging pin positions!! Windy as so on this occasion we thanked the may tree lines ;) except for SI 1 which looked pretty daunting form tee box with howling wind swirling and OB staring at you on the right. !! Defo will play here again, definitely recommending our society playing a medal here.... handicap 10 - 34 points, handicap 18 - 31 points.
Ordinary layout good condition
I felt the course layout was fairly uninspiring except for a couple of holes on the back 9.
Green keepers had done an amazing job in keeping the course open after the high winds had bought down alot of branches.
Excellent Course, great price
Very good condition, challenging, really enjoyed the course
Excellent day on the course
Ramsey is a fair test of golf with some difficult , we’ll la out holes. Definitely favours the faders of a golf ball more than those who draw it.
Played on 22nd February and course was in fair condition considering.
Staff friendly and good range of drinks in clubhouse.
Would definitely play again.
3rd time playing here and it's truly a lovely course. Greens and fairways in excellent condition and very well looked after. The only quarrel I have is that I paid on the golf now app, then after I had played I had a member say to me "good to see people taking advantage of the free golf day!".
They were having a weekend where golf was totally free to non members. Upsetting to say the least that I wasn't informed this when I checked in with the guys at the pro shop.
Golf in autumn sunshine at Ramsey golf course
A really enjoyable golf course with a challenging, picturesque lay out. The well kept fairways are set among tall mature trees - which were looking at their best in autumn colours - and the greens are in excellent condition. Only comment I have is the pace of play which was very slow - almost five hours for the round due to a foursome playing mostly sideways in front - but that can happen anywhere. A charming course worth going back to.
First time here and we were very impressed. A nice club house with very nice staff, very well laid out course with a couple of intriguing holes. Would definitely recommend.
A warm welcome, a getable course
Quiet in the middle of the day, middle of the week. Course condition was generally excellent, with well-groomed fairways, though the rough was sometimes challenging. Greens ran true and had a sensible pace. Warm welcome from the Pro who was very accommodating. Would definitely play again!
