Stapleford Abbotts Golf Club - Abbotts Course

We have been playing at Stapleford Abbots weekly this summer. The greens have been in good condition and it has been excellent value for money. However, in the past few weeks the greens and the fringes have deteriorated and in places are now badly cracked. They need to be more regularly watered.

Greens was not in green great condition apart from the 18th.

Course very dry, not been watered at all including the greens, no markers to advise where next tee is and certainly needed for some holes if first occasion playing. The layout of the course is very good it just seems that they have given up on the maintenance etc. which is a shame as I imagine this would play amazing if kept well

18 holes after 12 noon offer is value for money, course was well presented, fairways and second cut, greens were a little dry and hard to stop the ball near the pin, good course layout with tees close to previous greens.

Will play again

The course has a lovely layout.....but unfortunately this course is unplayable because the greens do not take a pitch. Every time you hit the greens the balls just ran through. Considering most of the game revolves around the greens. No wonder they say on there website they never have temporary any greens. Every shot long or short just bounced off....never seen green like it in 30 years of playing...especially considering it has been very wet recently!!!

Avoid!!!!

I can’t believe how quiet the course is for the money, good challenging course , probably 4-6 groups on the whole course. It feels like having your own course for most of it. Great condition for this time of year, greens tough to hold with anything less the a sand wedge, greens in good condition and true !

Nicely laid out but with overnight rain was too wet and muddy for my liking, will be back in the summer to try again.

Pace of play was horrendous. 4 balls squeezed into 7 min tee times to maximise profit. Waiting for 20 mins per hole due to initial layout being Par 4 into a Par 3.

Avoid weekends at all costs!

Overall the course was in decent condition in spite of the rain we have had. My only gripe is the 18th which has needed some serious attention for some time. In wet conditions iit is unplayable,, list a ball after hitting the fairway, absolute quagmire approaching the Green.

Spend some money on drainage, it ain’t gonna improve!!!

A return visit to Stableford Abbotts, my first visit was a year or two ago. This time I played with my son. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I like the course, it's laid out well with a number of dog legs and water hazards but isn't intimidating - which is good! The greens aren't perfect but are very playable.

Stapleford Abbotts is Incredible value for money in my eyes.

I picked a tee time that spanned lunchtime on a Friday, we flew round with no other players in front, or behind, so pace of play was great! But we could see some congestion 5 or 6 holes ahead, where a couple of 4 balls had run into each other.

Nice course, good layout. A bit flat but several ponds in play to jazz it up a bit.

Bunkers need bit of attention, as per most courses, greens need a trim but overall good.

Great course, great value and some very tricky 'risk reward' holes to take on. Love this course.
