Top Marks
I have given this course top marks accros the board because it deserves it. Nice layout, well presented and a very helpful and accommodating golf shop staff. Well played Branston
Great Value for Money but no Planning
It was exactly as expected for the money however...
As a dual tee 9 hole course, there was no planning on the timings for our 2nd 9. 15 people on the tee waiting. A bit of a joke and we left. Spoke to pro shop and no offer of refund just a you need to get in the queue. Not fun. Course was good and I wish I lived local for practise but just for 9, sod that wait.
Course condition
Whilst I appreciate the recent hot weather, I think the fairways and, in particular the greens could be in better condition.
It's been a few years since I played here and the long walk from 9th back to the 10th isn't well thought out. There is ground around 9th that could be used to make a thoroughfare to the 19th, rather than back along driving range, through car park then back up to club itself.
I'm using this course to help my 13year old Grandson but I wouldn't choose to play here again unless conditions improve.
They should reduce prices in these conditions.
Course
Course was like a desert lacks water, course in very poor conditions greens were mud and bobbly
Overcharged and Underwhelmed
This course isnt 18 holes, it is 9 holes twice from two different tee locations that are seperated by no more than 10 yards. The price is 20 pounds, irrelevant of if you play 9 once or twice. The price is not indicative of the quality, or lack thereof. The tee boxes on most holes if not all, leave a lot to be desired. The stones and rocks in each and every single bunker are plentiful. This wouldnt be a problem if the price was reasonable. But if you are charging a premium for a below average 9 hole, then, logic would dictate, that is what the expectation will be for the players. The abhorrent state of the greens are despicable, again for the price.
Forgiving
Played the eagle academy course. Great for high handicaps, forgiving and open fairways. Separate tees for front/back nine to change the holes up. Well looked after course.
Great afternoon
Very good course -was not sure what to expect with it being an academy course but I loved it course in great Nick fun to play will deffo be back to play the championship course in the future. Much better value than others in the area
Great short course for beginners
I learned to play on this course when l took up golf 2 years ago now, & upgraded to the Championship Course after about 16 months. There are no par 5's, only par 4's & 3's.
To do 18 holes, you have to go around the same 9 holes but with separate tee markers set forward or back to create varied lengths. In winter when they move tees forward, some become incredibly short. On the 2nd hole they've moved the tee all the way over a brook before by a distance of over 80yds that's easily a whole shot for some players, so it should technically be called a par 3 at those times. Still, when learning, it made some holes less daunting & l really enjoyed learning on that course & l still play it when l haven't time for 18 holes or haven't enough balls to risk the Championship which has 16 out of 18 holes with water hazards. 😬
The Eagle is great, but my only gripe is they don't maintain it half as well as the main course, so in winter fairways have often been overgrown & bunkers untrimmed. Greens have looked ratty, with bald patches, riddled with moss or fusarium, & you can easily lose balls in fairways with grass as long as the rough. When it's well trimmed & tended, it's a joy to play on & l love its layout. A lot of fun to learn on for sure.
A bad day at Branston
Start with the tee boxes you might has well play off concrete hardly any grass and so uneven. The fairways need cutting nobody seems to replace the divots and then the greens well I've played on better pitch and putt greens also didn't help having a five ball playing in front of us , and then having to walk a 1/4 of a mile or more to get from the 9th back to the first it feels has they have put all the effort into the 18 hole couse and this is just a back burner. A golf course on my door step which I would not go again
Branson golf course 2022
Course and staff brilliant enjoyed my round on my own
Ended up paying £39 think it’s worth around £25 - £30 to be honest ,
Would recommend this course and I’ll defo play it again

Short game practice
Course in good condition but the highlight was how great the greens were, very true and good pace and will definitely be playing it more.
why stop at 18?
Recently played the Eagle Course at Branston, which claimed to be 18 holes on the grounds that a few of the 9 greens had two tees. Why not build four tees and call it 36 holes? With the longest hole around 280 yards, it could barely be called a golf course! Signposting to the 1st hole is non-existant, and on the course itself there are several posts designed to indicate the next hole, simply lying on the ground. Neither of the last two holes had second tees, and it felt like the designer had truly lost heart and given up the pretense that it was anything but a semi-decent 9 hole pitch-and-put course. Branston's facilities are fine but just stick to the Championship Course if you want to play golf.
