Good, friendly, interesting and good value course

Played on a sunny, quiet Friday afternoon, friendly, relaxed and welcoming. Playing alone and was let through twice. Interesting course with more open, easier first 12 then hillier, more challenging final 6 holes including great 17 finishing over a lake.

Recommend and I'll be back.

challenging back nine but slow pace

On holiday in Hertfordshire and taking opportunity to play a number of courses. This course was recommended to me whilst playing on another course as one of the finest in Hertfordshire. I hope not!

The course is very much an average, if not slightly below average opening nine. Conversely, it has a very welcome outstanding and tricky, back 9 full of challenge. The pace of play was extremely slow, Forty five minutes to finish the first 3 fairly short holes. It picked up slightly but was still just short of 5 hours. On the 17th I waited a full 12 minutes to play my 2nd shot to the green and that had followed a good 8 minute wait on the tee. Overall found it difficult to maintain concentration due to pace of play and general lack of etiquette from members, bearing in mind I was a one-ball.

Clubhouse is very tired and bar staff, when they eventually serve you, not that friendly. I found the cost of 2 soft drinks to be significantly overpriced.

Nice to have it in my book but would not go back.
