Good course, great price. Rough is deep
Good course, great prices available (pm) most days. Rough is too deep on some holes. Watch out.
winter Golf
To sum up, very impressed with course status even just after bad weather and wet conditions. All tee's in winter mats, but did not feel a detriment on original course design.
Bad points on speed of play, 1:30 on first 9 followed by 3 hours on second half, had visibility of 4 ball groups from 11th tee onwards,, not great etiquette from members!
As a whole, happy to give it a second chance,, will visit again in the spring
Not as easy as it looks, ninth tee needs attention (summer tee)not the winter mat
Good course,
Played off temporary tee which made the course slightly shorter. The bunkers whete very good loads of sand in them according to my playing partner
Great little course but poor etiquette from members
Lovely sunny day, course in good shape. Fast greens running true. Pace of play was however dreadful. Gave up after 9 holes having taken 2.15 hours. Members would not wave me through despite losing balls and dropping. Pity as course was good. Will not be returning.
Cracking little course
First time playing at South Buckinghamshire, very friendly welcome, course was in good condition, apart from the speed of play due to a society couldn't fault the course,
resonable course
golf course was in ok condition I have played here many times and have to say I like the course but the bunkers are awful we had a little rain and the bunkers were solid hard it was virtually unplayable and full of stones that is one thing that really needs to be looked at on this course. I also think that the tees are very uneven its very hard to find a flat spot to tee of from I also think it could do with maybe 1 more reasonable lenght par 3 in it other than that the course is a decent course but with a few improvements it could be so much better
Cracking Course
Great course to play if you want to try new things especially.... some long walks between the holes but wide fairways can help if you do go left or right a bit to much ... would recommend this course though really enjoyed it ... and with a 28 handicap I still managed 2 birdies
Great condition.
The South Buckinghamshire has been added to my list of favourite courses to play. It might not be the longest or it may not be the hardest course but it was in great condition and is still a good test for an 11 handicapper like me. The Par 5 8th in the wind is especially challenging and even the short par 3 5th needs a good shot to keep in straight with a lot of side wind.
There's no water on this course but lots of the greens are well protected by bunkers and on a windy day it makes it even harder to stay out of them, so your approach needs to be accurate.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed playing The South Buckinghamshire and can't recommend it highly enough if you are ever in the area.
Nice little course
Still using temporary mats but you can still put in your tees and probably get more grip on them than the normal tee boxes. Some boggy bits still on the course but nothing too drastic. The majority of the fairways were in good condition for the time of year and the greens were slower than normal maybe due to the fact that they needed cutting.. But for winter golf the course was well playable. I've played a lot in worse condition.
It'll be fantastic by the summer
Lots of GUR, temporary tee-off mats and extensive building work on 9th green. It's a really good course anyway with a variety of holes lengths, dog-legs etc but it'll be in superb condition by the summer!
Very Cold
This course has some varied holes although they have taken quite a bit off the length during the winter with the tee mats although they do look to be carrying out a lot of work on the real tee boxes. It was very cold and there were not a lot of brave (or stupid) people on the course so we flew round. Would definitely recommend and will be returning when the weather picks up!
The south bucks/Farnham park
Very slow so played front nine twice.members should remember the rule of letting faster groups through.
A very good value course
Condition of the couse was very good and we will be returning.
The only problem we experienced was the speed of play which was very slow.
Good variety of holes and the condition of the greens was excellent.
Good facilities and excellent parking
Slow Slow Slow
I didn't really want to write a bad review about this course as I think the facility and course itself are in excellent condition.
However, given this is a fairly short course I would expect a 2 ball to go around the course in under 4 hours. I played as a 2 ball and after 9 holes had taken 2 and a half hours and with a queue of 8 people waiting to tee off on the tenth, gave up.
I was told there was a large society that was playing and was the cause of slow play. The staff acknowledged the speed and gave us a voucher to come and play again for free the next time. They did this without hesitation.
This does highlight one of the problems with teeofftime though as you have no idea when booking how busy a course will be.
Course layout not "walking friendly"
The staff that checked us in was very very nice and friendly. The course layout as I mentioned is not really "walking" friendly". Some holes were marked and some were not so we were lost most of the time. At times, like for example, hole 16 was so far away from 15, we had to do a few roundabouts....until we found it. Since it was our first time at this course, it was really tough. At the beginning, we requested for a buggy "golf cart" and apparently, they only had a 3 or 4. Other than these two, the greens are in great shape. I sure hope the course will get more carts and install signs where to go.
