Immaculate
Great course which is well maintained, challenging and scenic.
Good test
The course has very tight fairways, especially on the front 9 so not a good course for very high handicappers. Greens excellent and undulating, layout good and no boring up and down holes. Strangely the club have removed a lot of bunkers over the summer and not the test it was a few months ago when I first played it. Highly recommend you play this course if you like target golf over smashing it.
Shame about the ongoing work
Three holes are currently closed due to bunkers being upgraded. I was aware of this before booking as the work has been going on for some time now. However, what I wasnt told was that a number of other holes were being worked on. This meant that there were several other holes with large areas of the fairway sectioned off by fencing. Some holes had fencing nearly completely encompassed the greens.
Tytherington
Lots of work being done resulting in 3 holes being closed and yes we did know about that when we booked
Tee boxes where bad played off the yellows
Greens where good no pitch marks to speak off
Lots of fenced off areas where work had been done a bit excessive when a simple GUR sign and a white line would be more pleasing to the eye
Overall front 9 nine good back 9 too much work going on will be great once finished
Course Maintenance
We have thoroughly enjoyed this super course in the past, but were not aware that 3 holes were closed, and another few were in play, but shouldn't have been.
Major bunker development is underway, hence the closures, but another 4 or 5 holes have extensive areas near the greens fenced off.
This ruined the experience somewhat, as the green fee was the same as a couple of months earlier, when the course was fully open, and spectacular!
Teeing areas were also absolutely shocking, although the greens were superb.
We'll definitely visit again, but not until the renovations to the course are complete.
Lack of Info
Sadly on arrival we were told 3 holes were not being used.
As we can only get out to play once a week or once fortnightly we found this poor regarding relaying this information to us via the Golfnow app.
The course informed us that Golfnow were aware of the hole closures so this was most annoying.
If we had known about the closures we would have played elsewhere.
Holes closed
Would have been nice to be informed that 3 holes were closed for renovation before we paid. We didn't find out until just before we teed off
Lovely course but they should have made me aware that three holes were closed.
George Masterclass
First time at Tytherington, I have played at other courses in the area as im up in Macclesfield for the summer. This was standout. Greens rolled like glass, the course was very well maintained and George at the desk made me feel right at home, showing me where everything was. Value was excellent too. Will be returning...
Good course but shame it had rained heavily the day before I played
Every green had been sanded so wasn’t great for putting
But overall the rest of the course was excellent
Interesting track… some great holes!
Very interesting course layout for the size. Some great holes… some tight tee shots etc. really good club course.
Course
Course was tough but really nice and staff really friendly
Holes closed and netting on most of the front nine
Unfortunately 3 holes are closed on the front nine and the rest have netting on fairway and near the hole GUR so really difficult to retrieve your ball as not allowed to enter the area without threat of expulsion from the course. I wouldn’t recommend playing the course until the all the holes are back in play.
A lovely course
First time I had played here, but it won't be the last. Probably the best course I've played around here. Greens in perfect condition. I know they were doing work on the course, but that can't be helped & it will be even better.
It's long, especially for us not low handicappers, but the course is so nice you don't care. I'll definitely be back!
Holes shut
We were not told the 1st 3 holes were being renovated and not in play when we booked so had to start at the 10th. We should have been notified prior to booking
