Great Course
Really good course for 9 holes. Fairways and greens are in great condition with each hole being a different challenge from the last
A Hidden Gem
I have lived in Alderley Edge for nearly 20 years but this is my first time playing this beautiful golf course.. I have always been put off by the fact that it is a 9 hole course but setting this aside, wow, the 9 holes are some of the best in Cheshire. The layout and vistas remind me of the back 9 at Mottram. However the course condition and especially the greens is far superior.
Stating the obvious but if this were an 18 hole course it would score 5 stars.
Always a Pleasure
Don’t really want to write this as it’s a hidden gem. Beautiful course, still challenging, was in fantastic condition and the staff, as always, friendly and accommodating.
Cracking little Sunday knock
Considering we played mid winter - the course is in excellent condition & only playing 1 temp green despite the rain. Fairway mats / semi rough placement also in play… but given my handicap, I’m at home off the fairways anyway, so no issues there haha
Good value for money in my opinion relative to other 9 hole courses in the area. Super nice guy in the pro shop too.
First time playing there & definitely won’t be the last.
Mixed
1. Can’t use fairways and mat costs £9.50 with no return
2. No option for 9 holes only on GolfNow and proved expensive vs options on club site
3. Course is good for 9 holes and probably good in the summer providing you dont book via GolfNow to get full value for 9 holes
Decent course but play it when conditions are better
This is a 9 hole course that is quite challenging with some fairly steep undulations running throughout the course. The course wasn't in great condition when we played but to be fair it has rained a lot recently and it isn't the only course that has suffered. It was very wet underneath there were pools of water everywhere and it was very soggy but again it has been very wet recently. Tee boxes have been moved forward and there was 1 temporary green.
For your mid to high handicapper there is definitely enough to keep you interested but for someone below 18 I would go elsewhere. The pace of play was ok but for some reason a 3 ball tried to let us through on the par 3 8th and waited near the green and watched our tee shots which seemed a little silly. I think this is probably a blip though.
I wouldn't play this course again over the Winter but would definitely play it again in the Summer as you can tell that it would be a beautiful spectacle. If you're graduating from long par 3 courses and don't feel ready yet for a full length 18 hole course then give this is a try!
Boggy
The course was heavy going having suffered from the recent heavy rain. We were also playing from plastic mats and one hole (1st) had a temporary green due to the conditions. The course is a good challenge and nicely undulating with some lovely holes. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely course, great greens for time of year. Lots of par 4.5s
Some lovely holes like the ‘bird’s nest’ 8th. Greens in great condition for time of year though heavy rain had made it boggy in places which we be expected. Very friendly staff and nice atmos around clubhouse terrace. Price point of £22.50 perhaps not the cheapest for 9 holes (could be cheaper for full 18 tho?) Damp conditions meant course playing long and nearly all par 4s on front 9 400+ yards so only in range for the longest of hitters (not me!)
Great Round
Great course and friendly greeting. Great challenge and forgiving for those wayward shots.
Would definitely recommend and play again.
Good challenging 9 holes
Good condition and a nice challenge for nice holes.
Beautifully challenging
A difficult course in my opinion, but some really well designed holes which punish poor tee shots and reward good ones, greens were a touch slow but it was wet but all round amazing course for the money.
Great afternoon
Great price and course in fine condition
No pressure, surprised it was so quiet and a nice pint on the terrace after
Lovely course
Very good course with real variety for 9 holes. Challenging, especially as it’s the first time we played with a killer 8th ! Will definitely return.
Interesting course but sadly too wet
We played on a dry day but after several days of rain, and in truth we felt the course should have been closed. As such, we stopped after 9 holes, as the temporary greens were also not ideal - although we fully understand why they were in use.
That said, the layout is really interesting and we will definitely be back once the weather improves. Everyone we met was friendly, and the Club had a nice feel to it. I'm sure my next review will be more favourable.
