Shrigley tough course
Shrigley Hall golf course has a varied layout and quite hilly. It’s a tough course to play with plenty of slopes, tricky rough, water in a few spots and tough greens. Overall enjoyable but bring plenty of balls.
Great course
Great course, a little challenging especially at the moment with it being so dry.
Very friendly welcome when we arrived.
Will definitely be back
A good course the pace of play was really good the lay out was great some really nice holes the green was true and very fast
So friendly
Been to a lot of golf courses, but this 1 by far was the most friendliest. Every member of staff we encountered was so friendly and helpful.
Really nice course, quite challenging especially the greens, and some superb picture holes, and the views are superb.
Would definately recommend and looking forward to returning.
Would recommend you get a buggy, unless your super fit
V hilly, nice greens
The greens were really good and quite tricky too. The course is very hilly; we were so glad we chose to hire a buggy. The layout is a bit strange with quite a distance between some of the holes; would have made it quite a trek on foot. Overall a good, challenging course.
5 Hour Round
Course is tough and in decent enough condition, however playing as a 3 ball should NOT take 5 hours. Played here in the past and pace of play has always been an issue.
Great course but slow Going
Played 18 holes on Sunday afternoon, course was I. Great condition. But play was really slow due to two groups in front being totally useless. And not letting anyone play through.
Amazing place
Weather was awful but course and location are superb
Great course
A great course with a fantastic mix of difficult and challenging holes soft greens and fairways in wonderful condition
Beautiful challenging course
Fantastic course with some really challenging holes. 18th to finish is special! Well maintained & plenty of buggies (which your going to need) would highly recommend
Nice course
Good variation, some lovely little Par 3s and feel the course is very unique. Definitely need to have a look at home layouts before hand as got caught out a few times.
Interesting layout
An interesting layout with some amazing views. Many of the holes are quirky and have significant attributes that makes them interesting if not a little difficult to read. Greens were generally slow compared to other places played at this time of year. Decided to hire a buggy (£40) which proved to be a good option as there are some steep inclines and travel from green to tee. An enjoyable experience and probably would return if I am in the area again.
Amazing and hard course!
Course was really well kept, beautiful and hard to play. An experience for a high handicapper like me anyway
Overall we thought the course was a good and challenging layout and met expectations from others recommending to play. The first 3 or 4 holes are not particularly interesting but as the round develops there are some challenging and interesting holes, some with quite a few quirks. Mature trees on many holes add interest and challenge. One hole on the back nine has Augusta vibes with its own version of Rae’s Creek on a dog leg left to a well guarded green. 16, 17 & 18 are all particularly memorable. Also the course offers great views across Manchester and Cheshire.
I think the only thing that stops the course from a five star rating would be that most of the greens are all quite small, reasonably flat with minimal variety until the latter few holes. If these were larger and more varied in size, shape and layering this would have the makings of a great course. I would definitely recommend and will on all likelihood revisit.
Excellent
First time playing and was really impressed with the course conditions after bad weather
Need to come back in summer
As you’d probably expect at this time of year the course was extremely wet, probably could of done with closing a couple of holes.
