Basic but ok.
Obviously at this time of year the conditions are poor. Course was ok for a par 3 9 hole for beginners I guess.
9 hole pitch and putt
A 9 hole, par 3 course that uses the water features to make holes more challenging.
The course was in poor condition with lots of temporary greens but to be expected for this time of year.
Ultimately it was nice to get out the house and meet a friend during tier 4 lockdown. Go with low expectations and use it to sharpen your short irons and socialise.
DO NOT PLAY
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE.
Booked as a last min thing with a friend. Shouldn’t even be able on this app to play as it’s unplayable.
Friendly enough guy but he still sold us a terrible course. It’s only a par 3 course but that wasn’t the issue, it was just totally unplayable.
When we left early he did ask us why and how bad it was out there, be better off going to the park and that will be maintained better. Was disappointed he didn’t offer us a refund.
To be honest I’m even more disappointed this app promoted this course, I will be avoiding this app going forward.
Ruined
We used to play here regularly when it was Traditions.
Decided to give it a try after years and could not have been more disappointed. Assuming the land is being primed for development and it's now a rubbish 9 hole course.
Wouldn't recommend and won't be going back!
Sad to see
Had played this course when called “Traditions” and when I booked all I express a change of name, it’s no longer an 18 hole course but now a 9 hole par 3, most holes around 140y. Felt sorry for the 1 guy who helped us, sounds like a lot of people had arrived expecting 18 holes. There were about 3 temporary greens. I can’t fault the 1 guy working there today (was on course) unless you fancy a par 3 game to sharpen up approach shots I wouldn’t bother, sad to see what was once a lovely course in the state it low is in.
This is now a par 3, 9 hole course
Beware this is now a par 3, 9 hole course not 18 as advertised. Some of the greens are temporary, shame was a half decent course before. Probably ideal place for beginners or kids to get into the game but I doubt that I will be back. The bar/facilities were shut so I can't rate them and the only staff I saw were mowing old fairways to put new greens on
Not a golf course
It's only a poorly kept 9 hole pitch and putt now. Most holes don't have greens. The rough is just fields and there are beer cans everywhere. Avoid like the plague
Warning - 9 hole Par 3 course only.,
Just be forewarned, this is no longer an 18 hole course. Not knocking the par 3 course, but please be aware the 9 hole par 3 course is the only course remaining at this time.
Great course for many different levels of golfer
I recently played at Twisted Stone for the first time, and found the staff to be very welcoming and the facilities to be very good. The course is fast improving, as evidenced by the amount of green keepers present, and although many reviews seem to complain about poor course conditions, I found the course in general to be great. There are interesting holes with many hazards, that can prove tricky for a more experienced golfer aiming for a low score, however lower ability golfers will be able to think their way around said hazards if they play sensibly - making for a great round of gold for a reasonable price no matter what golfing experience you have. Also, under 16s play free with an adult, so it is a great place for younger golfers leading the game to experience a slightly trickier course.
Overall, great round of golf, friendly staff and will definitely play there again in the future
Mr Holt
I have played the course several times.
At the moment I am not a member of any club and play where I find a good deal.
On this particular Sunday we teed off at 14.00 and paid only £16.00.
So for value you will struggle to beat this.
Awful tees, awful fairways, horrendous greens, was like playing on a ploughed field at times. Not worth the money. Avoid this course
Could be a great course...
I played here last winter and the course was in poor condition which I thought was a shame as it has a reasonably good layout and some challenging holes. With the summer upon us I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out again in the hope it would now be in good condition. Alas no, seems to be suffering from lack of investment. Although not unplayable, some of the fairways were ropey and majority of the greens were awful - seems they are not watered so are mainly just dead grass.
I think with investment the layout could make it a great course to play, but unfortunately I'm not going back unless things change significantly.
Great potential
The course has a good layout but the conditions of it let it down. It needs a bit of care for the fairway (very patchy) and the greens (bumpy and some in bad condition) then it would be a very good course.
The staff were nice, but the food options were poor. You may need to pop out to get something to eat or bring your own (until they hire a chef).
If they improve the fairways and greens, I would be keen on playing the course again.
Taxing
A nice walk. The course lay out is good. Difficult on a freezing winters day, when the fairways a boggy meadow. Par3 10th a nice hole over water. Found the greens OK tbf. Only paid a tenner, so that's about right at the moment.
poor greens
have played many courses in the area and this was definitely the worst, the greens were in terrible condition, not worth paying £30 for.
Extremely poor conditions
Is just a shame that this course is in such so bad conditions because the layout is great. Fairways are dirty and the grass is not well cut. The greens are in extremely bad there was a big hole in the 10th. (I even took a picture because this was unbelievable). The general maintenance of the course is poor. There is only one practice net which is completely destroyed and there seems no intention to replace it or repair. £30 to play in this course is really expensive, you can play in much better courses nearby for a similar price or even less. I am not coming back .
expensive for the quality delivered ...
Quite breeze but was a round of prep for comp the next weekend for me, so needed to get out. Fairways were more rough than anything on the front 9 (back better). most greens were either too full of pitch mark or skanky ... I think for 25£ ... i was expecting better than that. Photo of the worse green attached. Back 9 was OK ...
