Beware of the greens

Course has a nice layout whilst being abit bland. Some challenging tee shots that make you think about what to take of the tee to avoid water hazards. Other the course is very open, no many other challenges as you can play the ball 2 fairways over and not be in trouble. Greens weren’t in great condition, very bare and bumpy, which let the course down. Played with a member who said they were in better condition than usual. Overall, it’s probably an okay summer course, but plenty of better options for the same price.

Attire

Apparently tailored golf shorts aren’t allowed and got told I had to play in proper golf attire even though I was in a golf tee and golf shorts definitely won’t be coming back

Great first play

Very good course and excellent condition given winter conditions. I would describe myself as a poor golfer and felt very welcoming. Flooding in places but it was following a horrific storm the weekend before and still very playable. Would recommend

Golf weekend

Played here as part of a golf weekend. Arrived about 9.30 , course was very quiet, pro let us off early. The thing that stands out is how bland the course is. It is a vast expanse of green which is really hard to define which holes are which. Surprisingly there are some really good holes and course conditions were good. I thought the course played a lot tougher than the slope rating. All in all enjoyed the place, but when it matures it will be a lot better.

It was a windy one

As the title suggests, we played on a blustery day which certainly made the course more of a challenge.

The course itself was in good condition and the greens were very receptive and quick.

There’s quite a bit of walking between holes on this one - the course is nice and flat, but a buggy is a good shout to get you around a bit faster.

Overall, a good challenge and a nice variation of holes

Forgiving course fun to play on

Played my best round in 3 yrs on this course. The fairways were forgiving albeit a little dry with the lack of rain for this month The greens were in particularly good condition and the hazards fair Really enjoyed myself

Wonderful course

Arrived for a solo tea time just before mid day, headed to the American golf inside the clubhouse to find a well stocked large store. I took advantage of the driving range before my round and found the trackman driving range very well looked after. I was able to tea off early due to someone in front of me arriving late so took advantage of it. Greens were in superb condition, tee boxes had sand mix in boxes to fill in divots. The course lay out was well thought out and was a pleasure to play. Will certainly be back again.

First rain in weeks and the greens flooded!

I was baffled how the geeens flooded after only reasonable rain, no torrents and this after weeks of drought conditions. The course itself was reasonable given the lack of rain but the greens were painful as puddles everywhere. Towards the end of our round they had two guys out squeegeeing the greens but only because there was a club championship following us so not much use to us. They have ripped out whatever reed’s etc were in a pond within a par-3 and it looks a real mess but other water features were nice, the course is very flat so needs some features on it and they worked pretty well. The tee boxes were a bit chatty but not as bad as some courses and it wasn’t a bad experience, we both shot exactly our handicap despite some rain and the flooded greens. I’d say a quite decent course but not convinced £30 is great value tbh. Great bar and golf shop though so off-course is 5*.

Trent lock 2nd visit

Played here with 3friends who had never played the course before. We were all impressed at the layout and course conditions, considering the lack of rain in recent weeks it was surprisingly good. Had a breakfast in the clubhouse before. We couldn't really fault anything tbh , had a bout of rain for 3 holes but that really was the only damp squib. Excellent value for money too , less than £40 for a Sunday morning.

A ‘need to know’ kinda course

As you’d expect in Jun, course in good condition, greens excellent and green staff busying around. Very much a parkland layout with a number of hazards and doglegs.

Would like to play again as I now know the course a little bit
