Vale Royal Abbey

Played this place last year and came back because of how good it was. It’s far from where it was a year ago. Tired, poorly kept, more concentration on high school proms and classic car meetings than maintaining the golf course. Food from the bar - good quality but slow.

Great course in fantastic condition. Greens were amazing.

Can’t fault it and quality food and drink at very reasonable prices as well in the 19th hole 👍👍

Fantastic course.

Well worth the fee.

Bad experience with 2 members behind us playing very dangerous balls towards us before we had time to clear the green. One ball hit the bunker while my partner was still playing from it. Another time, a ball shot through the green while we were putting. They were very aggressive when I challenged them on it. Not what I expected from a top class rated golf club.

I really enjoyed the course today, I played really well so that helps, course was in great Nick, greens are very good, firm but receptive & pretty quick in places, would definitely play again and recommend to friends, thanks Vale Royal

Booked to play after raving reviews about the course, only to turn up on the day and be told that temporary greens were “mostly” in play. Disappointing as the greens are the courses selling point. However after 18 holes we found that “all” greens were out of action, 18 temporary greens in play. No mention of this on the website and no email to make us aware or given the option to cancel, refund or rearrange. Total disappointment. However having said that, the greens looked amazing “when walking by them”, I would imagin playing the course when the greens are in play would be great, hence why I would still recommend the course to others. Just call before travelling to see if the greens are open.

One of my favorite UK courses, beautiful condition and love the new spike bar and stunning clubhouse.

4th or 5th time visiting this course always a pleasure . Course was in excellent condition. Staff friendly and helpful. Lookng forward to the next time I visit.

i have played vale royal a few times, this time due to maintenance week at my own course, I've enjoyed every time i played it apart from this time. The condition of the course seems to have slipped, greens were wooly and spongy, previously they were slick, bunkers poor condition and hardly any had been racked after someone had played, I'm a pretty decent player and was playing on my own, i got behind a 4 ball who were literally chopping the course to bits, playing out of bunkers, not racking them, i don't know why they didn't let them through, i don't know why they felt they could miss treat the course but the way the course looked, they were not the first, its a real shame this has been allowed to happen.

First time playing, course in beautiful condition.

Tee boxes fairways and greens are up there with the top clubs.

Some short holes but a tough test, loads of bunkers or water. Rough cut back well so people aren’t spending loads of time looking for balls which kept pace of play good.

Look forward to playing again.

This is, by a distance, the finest course I have played. The fairways were like carpets, the green were fast yet receptive, undulating and testing. The layout is superb with each hole adding a little sonething different. The array of enormous bunkers was highly entertaining - unless you find one, then they're not so funny at all, though that's probably down to my lack of talent. The clubhouse was tremendous, staff were friendly and helpful, ammenities were superb. Vale Royal Abbey is an event in itself that I can, and will, experience again.
