Drained well after torrential rains
Friendly chat with club pro advised course actually closed but let us play if we didn't mind likely waterlogged conditions. . Turned out course drained well and enjoyed our great value 'golfnow ' deal.. only downside was the many bunkers not surprisingly needing repair from the very heavy rain earlier or the amount which are GUR. Winter tees off good size mats but greens and fairways in good nick.
Conditions
Considering the recent weather pleasantly surprised with the course conditions!
Slow qnd nearly got 3 times
Play was very slow even for a Sunday afternoon. A lot of the holes are close together and I was nearly hit 3 times
Winter Golf!
Friendly reception, and having been let through on the second hole by a group of 4 seniors, we managed to get around in 31/2 hours, what was a relatively dry course and a in ok conditions for the time of year.
An undulating course, with dog legs, tree's, water features, and well placed bunkers, creating some nice holes made for a good walk on a sunny but cold day. Shame our golf wasn't up to it, but will come back to play again.
Brentwood Golf Club
On first arriving, the car park is something of a disaster, there are a lot of pot holes and the prospect of damaging the wheel's or suspension on your car is daunting. Booking in is easy and at first sight the course looks fantastic. However...there were huge delays between tee's , now I have learned there was a mistake with the start times for the members but some of the players were just chatting at the tee's and I only managed to complete 7 holes before giving up. The course itself was slightly boggy in places but that is to be expected with the previous days rain, the rest was actually pretty damned good. I would definitely like to give it another go, but I think I will wait a few months for some better weather and hope that the admin staff do not make the same mistake as it really ruined my day and was a pretty terrible first impression.
A must play
Fantastic course, staff friendly, other players polite and helpful and will be joining as a member very soon
Not bad
It’s playable especially for this time of the year, there is no compressor for cleaning shoes and trolleys after the game. Facing the sun was a nightmare for a number of holes since I started playing at 11:00
Challenging, whatever the weather
We had prebooked the round but when we arrived a society booking was crowded around the 1st tee. The club pro apologised for their lateness and for the liklihood that it would be very slow behind them. He gave us discount vouchers for the next time we went. We noticed that the 10th was free and jumped in there instead. The course was, like many others, very wet but the greens were excellent. By the time we got to the 18th there was nobody starting out so we then played the front 9. No delays and a very enjoyable day..
Challenging well setup course.
Good course challenging course. Fairways were excellent and rough was thick enough to be a challenge but not unreasonable. Green first class and no complaints. Loved the different coloured flags to tell whether the pin was front, middle or rear on the green. Pace was a little slow but that can happen when your a two ball behind a four ball. Overall excellent course.
Brentwood Golf Club - Sort your bunkers out!
Course has a great layout and greens in very good condition.
Unfortunately cannot say the same about the shocking bunkers and the very poor, tatty old winter tee mats.
Bunkers either full of stones or full of water, or both!
The only thing we thought needed attention was the bunkers other than that really enjoyed the coarse
Very good playing surface
Played after a few previous day's of rain, course was in very good condition, fairways were being mowed fairly short but were dryish and you could get through the ball well. Greens were a little slow but relatively true. Round for our 3 ball was 20/30 minutes longer than would have expected considering the rough was cut quite short so finding balls wasn't a problem. Staff all helpful and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable round.
Annual match
Windy conditions but course in great shape for the up-coming winter....
Like most courses the only let down are the bunkers.
But that’s the same for 99% of courses in Essex I’m afraid....
