A real pity
Whitehills is a very nice course that's a reasonable distance from where I live in Stevenage. Generally, the course is in good condition and has a very nice setting in the Hertfordshire counrtyside. That said, I won't ever be playing there ever again for one reason alone, pace of play! This is now the third time I've had to play behind a society golf do, and yet again the etiquette was shocking. Absolutetly no chance of being allowed to play through, even when they only only managed to hit it 40 or 50 yards, and proceed to look for lost balls for over 10 minutes a time. The upshot of this was that the 2 ball playing behind me gave up on the 10th hole and my own round took over 5 hours to complete a course I can easily get round in 3. In short, totally disgusting.
Good layout
A good course in good condition for the time of year, pace of play was good and friendly, bit hilly which some may find a hard walk
Highly Recommended
Had a fabulous day at White Hills this weekend.
Course was playing well , sunny but windy day.
A great course that requires a little game management to come in with a low score.
Facilitates all levels of players, friendly bar staff and crammed in a couple of frames of snooker after lunch in the bar.
All round excellent day.
Would consider joining the club as a member.
White hills golf course
Played here before when in excellent condition. Played today, admitidly in cold winter conditions, found the course to be harder due to conditions! Bunkers were like concrete, course was frozen in places but on the plus side no temporary greens! Difficult to judge what was going to happen on greens with tennis ball bounce on some!
Would definitely go back and play again, course is well payed out. I suppose anywhere this time of year would be cold n frosty!
Best in the area
Well presented course with firm fairways for October, rough which punishes yet you can still find your ball, quality bunkers with consistent base/sand depth and well kept greens which were a delight to putt on.
Course layout makes the most of the topography with some challenging holes especially the par 5 eighteenth which is 564 yards (white tees) and uphill.
Will certainly play there again.
We did not have any grievance spoken to any of my staff on the day. Yes the course was busy, but every group in every tee-time should adhere to the etiquette of golf. If we had been told that groups were not we would have spoken to them. It is also advisable to call any golf club if you are a 1 ball to try to play at a time where you can play at your desirable pace of play.
