Very different to the normal
Thoroughly enjoyable course, very score-able for the high handicapper golfer.
Good course
Course is well looked and well worth the money, staff are very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend 👍
Superb
Second time playing Withernsea, sometimes its difficult to remember we play golf to enjoy ourselves. Course in great nick, members made us feel extremely welcome, cold beer at very reasonable prices. Sat outside of the clubhouse, chatting with beer in hand afterwards....yep, this is how it should be, thank you to all at the club.
Challenging Course Definitely
Lovely welcoming Staff, and friendly locals. Definitely would recommend this ccourse to anyone who wants to improve they're game as it is hard to play and is brutal, I started of bad but as I grew in to the game I scored 45 on back 9 compared to 59 on front. They are I think only 15 greens meaning 3 greens are shared.
The course is basically 9 hole
Shared tee box, playing over greens to get to your green, sharing fairways with other holes! balls flying all over! This place is crazy! You basically play 9 holes twice ! Fairways shocking overall I'd avoid it personally!
Positive bit! the staff was great 👍🏻
Withernsea golf club
Super friendly welcome on arrival. Layout explained well.
Course in good condition. Would definitely play again.
Mixed up mess
Fitting a 18 hole course into a 12 hole course doesn't work
Greens were a mess
The only good thing about this course is the friendly locals who guide you round this Mish mash of a course.
We walked off after 13 holes due to how long we were queuing up at the next Tees !!
Very good course
I really enjoyed playing at this club quiet place which is great for beginner players like myself.
The only unfortunate bit which I can’t blame on the club is when I came back to my car someone had scraped the rear bumper and driven off which makes me reluctant to return
Great course
Great little course very enjoyable friendly staff and fairly well maintained
Perfect playing conditions
We tee'd off at 11 but could pick nearly any tee time of the day, as this little gem of a course doesn't get played as often as it should. It's not our first time here, but as it's really a 10 hole course and you share the fairways on the back nine, with the front 9, which I think puts people off.
The course was immaculate, with 3 ground staff cutting fairways and greens and as they do such a good job, there's very little rough to lose your ball in on a stray shot. The staff all stopped cutting to let us play through and were friendly and chatty. This course is a dream to play for a novice, but has enough hazards to keep the keen golfer entertained.
The club house has a bar and is nice and tidy, but is not lavish as it is just a small club, but you can definitely notice the level of pride all the staff and club members put into it
Will definitely continue to play here in the future.
Holiday Fix
Booked on GN for a holiday fix with my 8 year old when staying at a nearby holiday park. Great convenience only a few minutes down the road.
When we arrived we were disappointed that there didn’t appear to be anybody around apart from a greens keeper out on the course. The clubhouse anpeared open but nobody around and very run down inside. Wanted to use the toilet, walked through the changing rooms and was saddened to see such a state of despair inside and further into the toilet.
Anyway clubs out of the car and we quickly discovered there was neither a practice green or net to warm up in, a very small expectation for a courses now days and reasonably cheap to set up a net.
Maybe we are privileged at our club but their were no junior tees so my lad played of the ladies reds and I played off the yellows.
Very difficult for my lad, who plays off 54 but plays in regular comps back home, short fairways and a lot of rough between tea box’s and fairways.
Course layout was odd, often walking backwards to tee boxes and greens in the middle of the another fairway on some holes. I have played other courses that don’t have 18 greens or that often share tee boxes but found this one particularly unusual.
The greens were very spongy, any time standing in one spot left a noticeable imprint, unusual given the amount of dry weather we have had. The green on the 7th, reminded me of the postage stamp at Troon, was particularly soft, difficult and not very true.
I thought course signage was poor at time, often unsure where to go next and had to refer to the course map on scorecard or just walk and hope.
I play regularly approx 3 times per week and found the course a reasonable difficulty, hitting gross 9 over. I would say the higher handicap or new golfer may struggle a little with course conditions. This reminded me very much or a poorly invested municipal course, disappointing given how lovely the area is and how much potential there is for the course.
Club looks like it could benefit from some investment, plenty of space to improve the course and add some more greens or relocate tee boxes. Need to work on improving the track to make this a course worth visiting for local tourism.
When we had finished the round I hoped to Sample a beer in the clubhouse but again the was closed with nobody around and felt very unwelcoming, maybe that’s the way the clubs wants it to be and they don’t want the tourist. I know my club actively seeks the visitors and tourists by promoting itself. Visitors bring money that could be well spent on improving the course and facilities.
Unfortunately I wouldn't visit again if ever in the area unless there were some big improvements. I paid £16 for a hot deal on GN but for not much more I have played far superior courses back home in North Wales.
Marvellous old course
A wonderful course that is a little quirky as it has only 12 greens. That in no way spoils the enjoyment of the course. Excellent condition, fairways, greens and bunkers all very good. No ridiculous rough to contend with. Great value. Very friendly staff that helped with explaining the course layout.
good nick
Played this course many times in past 2 years, but its now looking close to the best I have seen it.
It is a credit to all the staff and volunteers who work on its preparation and upkeep.
Withernsea
No staff when we arrived just a room with score cards in! Fairways to long needed cutting! Directions to next hole far n few between greens needed cutting! Overall not the best kept course
The course was in great condition, the greens was in perfect condition, the layout it good except for 4 holes that are used twice from different tee boxes.
But overall was a great golf course
Millionaires golf
Green keeper absolute gem, considering the winter we have had course was open and all green’s playable, no welly boots needed!, staff all super friendly as were all players that we met on the course, would recommend to all in the area to play
I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your round at Withernsea. Unfortunately at the time you played some courses in the area were closed or playing a shortened course. This was due to an exceptionally wet period when it was difficult to get machinery onto the course. Please contact us if you wish to see and play the course in its usual good condition.
