The course itself is nice. Many holes are short and kind of easy and wide open with no sand traps and almost no water features. It’s a good place to work on your game and build confidence. The creeks are all dry, which makes it easy to find your ball and retrieve it. Fairways were very firm causing drives to go along way. Greens are hard and fast and may never have been aerated. Lots of non-golfers strolling about. Dog walkers, students cutting through and just plain walkers who seem oblivious to the fact that they are on a golf course. They constantly walk into harms way often speaking aloud as they go With their mobile phones. We teed off at 11:30 and for the first hour or two we only saw a few walkers, but it got thicker with them later in the afternoon. All that being said, it was a nice experience because of relatively light play on a weekday . We played 18 and when we went to begin our second nine somebody jumped on the 10th hole in front of us. Two groups of four. We were a two ball and it never occurred to them to allow us to play through. I am American and , I would’ve made a fuss but I am new to this country and I don’t know if it’s considered as rude as it would be in the US. So we just hung back and hit the extra ball now and then and accepted our lot. I would definitely play it again , especially on a weekday when it seems that it’s less crowded.
Super greens
Lovely 9 hole course with perfect but difficult greens. Public have access but do not cause any hindrance.
Shocker!
This is a terrible golf course, horrendous layout, cross crossing tee boxes/fairways. Outright dangerous place to play. Open, public course means day trippers, dog walkers and picnic goers all over the place, some guys were even hitting practice balls onto a green we were hitting approach shots into!! Seriously! Stay well clear unless outright desperate to play!
Great for beginners
So I took two of my mates along who have not played a lot of golf and we had a blast. Great pace, lovely weather and the course was not difficult great for them to lose golf balls 😂😂
Fantastic value
A tenner for twilight golf. Unbeatable value. Greens ALWAYS in really good condition. Clubhouse welcoming for visitors.
Woodford
Nice small course ideal if you don’t play often. Good for first time
Best Greens in Essex / London
Tricky , well laid out course , Don’t expect to drive the greens , Immaculate surroundings , Lovely bar to relax in afterwards
Perfect Pace
As a non member I was very welcomed by the Club. Course was in great condition and pace was excellent, well it was 4pm. Amenities, we there is none on the course as it's only a Nine Hole course, but bins should be available.
A rambler took my ball
There were too many ramblers throughout the courses. I had to shout fore many times. Even worse, a rambler took my ball on the fairway and played with his dog throwing it.
Pleasant, easy woodland course with good greens but watch out for dog walkers
Pleasant woodland 9-hole course, that plays easy in summer. Good greens and well maintained. Layout a bit tricky especially around third, where you have to cut around the sixth to get to the tee and then the third par tee shot crosses across the sixth fairway. 1st/10th and 7th/16th have very different tee positions. There are a lot of dog walkers crossing throughout the course, some observant but some oblivious of the golfers. Very friendly staff and members and even a celebrity was in the bar.
Great value for Money
played the summer conditions last week. Course was in fantastic condition and excellent value. I got 18 holes for £10. Don't be put off that it's a 9 hole course you play twice, it offers different tee placements which changes certain holes up, and is also a decent test of skill. greens are a good size, staff and golfers are all friendly. Great course.
Lovely little course .
Played here a few times , and never really had a problem with the pace of play . For a course that is played on a lot , it is in quite good nick . If you hit a ball straight , it should be easy , but there is an imperfect lie everywhere ! Nice place to play golf
Affordable and fun
Overall it was great - only issue is the layout and lack of signs, got lost a few times. The course is well looked after and the greens are beautiful (and quick!)
Below average golf course
Not such a bad design and layout, some longish walks between hoiles but poor condition. To be fair the weather had been awful leading up to the day but the farways paricularly were in poor condition
