Great greens!

Great value round but lots of public out on the course as it’s an open park. Would recommend and the greens were really good. I’ll be back.

I took the dog!

Great friendly open course that let me bring my own dog!, My dog enjoyed it so much we went round twice. Take mozi/ bug spray as there's quite a few. Overall I had a great round of golf and will definately be going back.

It was good but I couldn’t play the last 9 holes

The course itself was good, quite short but very tight and offers a unique set of challenges. I am couldn’t play the final nine holes as there were too many groups in front of me (you play nine holes twice) so this was poor management by the club. The course was pretty good and had a good time

Woodford Golf Club

Warm welcome on a warm day - by staff and members. Course in really good condition, especially the greens. Remarkable as it’s got walkers, dogs etc as well. Smooth rate of play until the last couple of holes. Everyone very respectful of each other.

All in all a pleasure to play and one of the best 9 holes I’ve been on.

Dreadful

Wasn't expecting much given the cheap price but whole experience was dreadful. First time visitor, no signage to even tell you that you are at the right place. Couldn't tee off due to dog walkers and joggers, like playing in a ploughed field.

Not what was expected

Although I have graded this a 2/5 I genuinely believe they have done best with what the could.

So to clear up what was not expected, this golf course is actually in a park. Like people, dog walkers and cyclists constantly around you, Making it hard to keep rate of play up. To note on this my friend hit one down the fair way and a few dog walkers walked roughly near the area, we couldn’t find the ball anywhere so we’re like 95% sure one of the dogs grabbed it.

The fairways are roughed up because it’s a park, me and my friend decided to pick and place because of the lack of grass. However surprisingly they’ve done a really good job with the greens.

I definitely think it’s overpriced.

Gets you out

Managed to get the first tee time of the day and had never been here so thought why not?!

Wasn't expecting augusta having read previous reviews and I knew conditions wouldn't help at this time of year. But if fairly local and want a knock then I'd say go for it but don't go out of your way.

Few nice holes but mostly average. Nice friendly staff/Green keeper. Just keep an eye out for dog walkers and joggers!

Nice little woodland course

First time playing there, we didn't know it only had 9 greens but you can play 18 holes as the tee positions are slightly different on some of the holes. Fairways in very good condition and green good too. Tees need a bit of TLC but ok. Slightly off putting with all walkers and joggers around with a few of them clueless when it comes to sharing open space. On the whole most were considerate towards golfers.

Frustrating

OK course, plays like a links course. Huge problem with public walking, having picnics, walking dogs or simply hanging out in the middle of the course. hugely off putting having to constantly stop and shout at people to get off the fairway, not to mention dangerous.

Cheap & cheerful

Can’t go too far wrong for a quick round at <£15. The course is open so a lot of people dog walking, sun bathing, walking and teenagers drinking particularly in the summer and with Covid. Layout is somewhat unusual as at least 2 holes cross each other, however generally ok with a number of dog legs. Fairways are very dry at this time of year and greens quite unpredictable but mostly slowing up. Most fairways are quite wide although a couple of tee shots through trees do require straight drives. I would play again.

The only issue that I was not aware of was the course is open to the public (non golfers). Several people walking dogs, or just walking the course but seem to respect golfers playing. would not put me off playing again. Friendly clubhouse.. .

Public everywhere making play extremely dangerous, big health and safety risk.

The course seems to be set in a park, there were people everywhere picnicking, walking and in the way when hitting our shots. At one point there was a couple sitting on the tee box as we played. I have booked to play here next week and I will be cancelling my round here, losing the golf fee from golfnow m, but it’s worth it not to risk hitting anyone with a golf shot. This course is genuinely a health and safety risk and I worry it’s just a matter of time until someone gets hurt.

Park for picnics

Absolutely fine here for the odd cheap round, for a tenner you can't go wrong!

But the amount of people on the course was unreal, i never experienced this before. It is obviously used by locals as a place for playing football and having picnics and dog walking and groups of cyclists and people sitting / lying on many tees watching your drive! Definitely an experience but overall it was enjoyable and surprisingly relaxing.
