Bluewater Bay Resort - Lake Course

After reading a previous review it was clear we were walking into a post apocalyptic war zone. As we prepared for battle our expectations were lower than the fiery pits of the underworld. Upon arrival we were greeted by a Dave Jacob’s lookalike (impractical jokers season 8 ) he was funny and offered us moonshine. Which we declined. The course layout is actually really good they just need to work on growing some grass and keeping it mowed down. Not a bad spot to snag a hot deal on golf now if you want to lube up the swing before playing somewhere more expensive and maintained. No water on course to drink when the heat index was over 110 so bring your wa wa.

For starters, the course does not have tee times earlier than 7:30. That is a major turn off during the summer when temperatures are pushing 100. Greens were super slow and bumpy. Putts did not roll true. There weee some pretty cool holes but it would definitely help to have played it before. The two par threes on the bay are a nice test in club selection. Overall, it is well worth the money when you don’t want to pay $179 over in Destin.

Tees boxes need a lot of work but it was okay and far from crowded. Enjoyed it.

From the moment I arrived, staff was engaged and cheerful, helpful. Course was in great shape. Pace of play was perfect.

The course needed a good bit of work. Some greens were good but most have bare spots or remnants of aeration in the last month. The course needing mowing and the greens had not been mowed in several days. The greens were slow for putting. It was a beautiful course but needs to be kept up better.

I started playing at this course about a year ago…. Junior rate made it 9$ to play. As a beginner it was great not having to spend 50$ a round. HOWEVER this was quickly turned when they started charging 50$ to play the course….. Tee boxes are abused, fairways are almost always muddy/overgrown. Don’t get me started on the greens…… greens are quite literally sand… If they lowered costs by about 20-30$ it may be worth it. But with Fort Walton Oaks/Pines and Rocky Bayou near by not costing a lot more with hot deals it simply isn’t worth it.

Tee boxes were terrible. Fairways were terrible. Greens, if you want to call them that, were unplayable. Pace of play was great since I assume people do not want to play there. I would suggest going elsewhere to play if you want an enjoyable round.

This course looks like if the apocalypse started a year ago and you went out to play golf on a random course you found on your adventures this would be the conditions you would expect.

Absolutely HORRIBLE course conditions. I’m not a very good player and I’m tellling you, it is the WORST condition of a course that I’ve ever played. The greens were almost unouttable and crazy amount of sand in the fairways. The staff was nice, that’s was the only positive. It should cost about $12-15 to play.

Awesome views and pretty quality greens, the fair ways are a little rough. Over all for the money a nice fun course

This course needs major improvements. The tees were like hitting out of sand traps. They really let this course deteriorate. I played this course 10 years ago and it was really enjoyable at that time. I can say I won’t be back.

Best price in the area. While the tee boxes and some areas of the fairways weren't in great condition, the greens putted nice and 90% of the fairways were fine. Enjoyed the layout. Typical house lined fairways. Would not say it was too tight.

Horrible shape need to be closed down. One green was in the middle of the fare way.
