Golfer Reviews
New course
Very good experience. Staff friendly and helpful. Great course layout . Definitely worth it wilĺ play again when in area
Berrington Hall GC
1st of all I would commend the Staff, the Course condition d& the value for money. Having said that, the Course is testing but there are issues over the design of some holes. There should always be a "bale out" area.. 2 holes in particular have none. The 7th is a joke. As an elderly golfer that played to single figures for over 30yrs, I feel qualified to dispute the layout of the 7th hole. It is Par 5 with the 3rd shot a 90degree shape to the right. Having hit my standard 180yd drive followed by a good 3wood into the wind, I did not know where to go for my next shot. It turned out that I should have hit 30yds+ further in order to see where to go. Eventually I realised that I had to hit my best wedge over 60/80ft trees & carry a water hazard. Having just done same, I was left with a big hill with a Bunker protecting a Green behind on a down slope. No consideration for the average golfer and a seriously bad designed hole. There is another short Par 5 later with similar characteristics. These take away the challenge of the rest of the Course which is good. Don't let my review put you off but be aware that there are card-wrecking holes on this course. Would play it differently next time but worth a the challenge.
Good value for green fee
Excellent . First time off the normal tees. Excellent course. Greens could’ve been cut tighter . All in all a good day out . Recommend .
Saturday Experience
Played first time this weekend, course was in very good condition, greens ran well and fairways were very well maintained, only disappointment was that 15th hole was only par 3 down from a 5 which was only negative remark, staff were friendly and attentive prior to round and quality of food and drink was excellent, atmosphere around the place was good, being a 1 ball on a Saturday lunchtime meant pace of play was slowed down at times but was to be expected, course will look even better in summer so will definitely be back soon for another round in next couple of weeks
Great course, holds up well in the winter months.
As per the title, on all regular greens and just a couple of winter tee boxes
18 temp greens
I've played here numerous times, but booked & paid on Golf now Thursday& turned up yesterday only to find out when playing that every hole had a temp green.
No mention on Golf now & paid £25+.
Needs to be sorted as people are just waisting there money at the moment.
Winter golf
Course played really well and greens were fantastic, turned up on my own and was asked to play a four ball with some of the members. Going back Monday 😂⛳️👍🏼
Excellent course
The course layout was excellent and it was in very good condition.. a little work on the clubhouse and this would be an outstanding club
Ok
The course was well presented but not very memorable.
It’s the first time in a while I can’t really remember each hole played and found the course uninteresting.
In a plus side the amenities were good and the staff were extremely friendly.
Don’t think I would return.
A good challenge
Really good course... Bit of a hidden gem... Really good greens and challenging holes. Really enjoyed it.
Lovely course
Great course with a good variation of holes. Greens were nice and fast. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend older players to use a buggy as there was quite a bit of elevation. Looking forward to play the course again.
Lovely course
Really enjoyed this course, definitely going back. A lot of the holes are very individual and many tee shot are a joy to view. Greens really good and some look spectacular lying in small amphitheaters.
Overall great course
First time playing this course, condition was generally in good nick throughout, tee boxes, fairways and greens all well maintained. Pace of play no issue as was playing in the evening. Quite a challenging but fair course with plenty of water hazards, deep out of bounds, shallow greens and narrow fairways on some holes and the infamous 90 degree dog leg on the 8th was a hole like no other for sure. Didn't use clubhouse facilities or speak to anyone apart from signing in so unfair to rate on those criteria. Overall I'd recommend the course to a friend and would play again - think £30, is probs just about fair to pay for 18 holes here.
