Cobblestone Golf Course

Showed up to the course with a late tee off of 2 minutes with father in law, uncle and wife, father in law was first time golfer. Our game was best ball, to keep up with the courses groups.

My handicap +19

Im going to take a moment to say, one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever played. Even out displaying and shaping TCP San Antonio.

That’s where this review stops in positivity.

The ranger staff, Tom and Richard, made it very clear that even though we were keeping pace with the groups ahead and even allowed a better group behind to play through. We were unwelcome.

Tom, followed us insistently on every hole 1 through 4, overseeing everything like it was a military drill, taking the relaxing feeling of the game of golf on a public course out. I was completely unable to find my game to keep driving our family in pace with the teams around because if this.

After this on the 5th hole I asked Tom to please move on so we could enjoy ourselves and get our pace of play up. His overburdening behavior was slowing us.

We kept up with the group we let through and on the 8th with the beer carts, chatted them up and even had a great time joking about how bad the rangers were. I also had to warn them of a four because I can drive up to 300 yards at times. And almost hit them

That there’s a pace of play and made the afternoon very uncomfortable. At the 17th hole Richard insisted that we were holding up the group behind us, who was still 200 yards out from us on the prior hole while we were teeing up.

Tom and Richard made the game so uncomfortable we decided to not play and watch the group infront of us on the last hole. And just drive up with them.

Overall a fun course if you can play, but ranger staffs need to be reminded of the relaxing nature of golf.

Rain, wind and cold made it a bit difficult, but course was in poor shape and had to wait on every hole

Best thing about this course are the views. Skinny greens not in great shape too many walkers very slow pace of play. Not sure I’ll revisit.

The course layout was great. The staff was great! But it was a swamp! It rained the night before, and the course was a swamp! The fairways do not drain at all! Every fairway was soaked! It seemed like the sprinklers were left on over night along with the rain.

I would not play here if it rained the day or night before.

Most of the fairways and tee boxes are beat up and full of debris, leaves, pine straw, divots etc. Traps too!

The price I paid was great since I booked a hot deal. The course was a little soggy due to the heavy rain that came through a couple days before. The course drains a little below average but I was able to avoid most of the muddy spots. Started on the back 9 which I’m not a fan of on this particular course but no big deal. Overall I could not beat the value and time to play.

Sunny mid 60s and windy. Course was CPO. Love the layout. Greens were good for mid winter. Fairways were thin and had some flooding damage. Tee boxes were reseeded with rye and were decent. Bunkers were in below avg condition. Look forward to playing this course again in a few months when it rounds into shape.

Exactly what I’m looking for, pretty narrow long fairways, great greens with bunkers making it difficult. Extremely friendly staff. Couldn’t have been more perfect.

There were quite a few places that were under construction, with sod and other things, but all in all it was a great day. The greens were near perfect and the layout is just unbelievable. Every single hole is different and all are incredible.

First time playing Cobblestone today. Greens were in great condition. Some of the holes had great views of the lake. It was challenging from the blues but you can still shoot a good score. Will definitely be playing here again soon.

I have been to Cobblestone a number of times as a single, and I always get paired with friendly high quality type people. Wes and Steve and Steve certainly knew the course and helped an old guy like me navigate it. The staff was also doing a fine job of making me feel welcome. The course is in fine shape and the reworked cart paths are a big plus. I say you should make it down there as soon as you can and you'll enjoy it too!

This is a very nice and challenging course. The tee times are too close and stacked with no marshall present to keep pace moving. Tee times need to be spaced at 15 minutes apart with a marshall to control the pace.

Love cobblestone, it’s challenging and always in really great shape. Pace of play is almost always an issue though. Some really inexperienced golfers made for a tough pairing but the main issue seems to be that tee times are really close together.

While I like the layout of the course, the course shows wear from the many rounds played. There are many divots not filled by players and sand traps have not been raked by players or touched by the course maintenance in some time. Biggest problem at this course is the pace of play. My tee time was 8:20 with the next scheduled time at 8:30; however the powers that be added another tee time at 8:25. Then on the course there were no rangers to get the groups in front us to move as there were several times we could see a hole open in front of the group ahead of ours. Round’s generally take 5+ hours to play here so that is why I play at most once a year. What a shame.
