It is well maintained, but...
Drove 55 minutes to play here for the first time. Course was in outstanding shape. Bunkers well prepared. And the pace of place was amazing. We teed of at 7:45 right behind a fivesome. I immediately began gnashing my teeth. But these guys out the put the pedal to the medal and we finished in 3 3/4 hours!
But rated the course average because it is not very interesting. Virtually every green is fronted by a pair of bunkers. My other comment would be that the fairways are extremely narrow and it was difficult to define the rough from the fairway on some holes and the edges were so straight and boring.
Nice Greens
I consider AVGC my home course, and I always enjoy playing there. The greens role as true as any around. The wind blows pretty hard in the afternoon, but if we only played when it was calm up here, we wouldn't play much. The staff is very professional and pleasant. Randi in the bar/food services, and staff, Gary, head pro, Russel and Paige all are very nice. Fairly flat course that I usually walk. Bunkers are in good shape.. I recommend it.
Nice smooth greens!
Play as early as possible. The wind picks up later in the day, making those long par fours, much more difficult! This is a nice golf course, considering we are in a drought, I was surprised that it was as green as it was! A great value for the money. I'll definitely go back!
review
Nice course will play again. good tee box, fairways were green and the greens were great!
great course to play
very challenging and in great shape. New management has made substantial improvements in both, course condition, and customer service. Though not feasible these days, would like to see ponds returned on holes 2 and 17. Will play again.
Will come back!
Course was in great condition, greens rolled nicely! Ran into a few wet spots in fairways and tee boxes (but I also played at 6:30 AM) after playing this course for the first time in a year or two, I won't pay to play anywhere in the high desert except here..great course, and shot a personal best! Rough is thick and fairways are rewarding as it got hotter the greens weren't as receptive which made it very challenging..all in all an excellent course, especially with the conditions it's in right now!
Bad Service, nice course.
I had to argue with the staff to get them to honor my golf now reservation and still didn't get my full deal.
If you book thru golf now bring your reservation or else they'll a fast one o you.
The course is in good shape and is fun to play.
Best course in the Inland Empire for the price.
Played as a single and the course was in very good condition. Fairways were good and greens were great. First time I have played this course in 18 years and it was a real treat. 3 hour round. Had lunch in the bar after golf and staff was great and so was the food. Will make this a regular course on my list to play from now on.
This course is well maintained
My friend and I were very lucky to play under no win it usually blows around 15 to 25 miles an hour making afternoon tee times not pleasant in the high desert I can speak for all players looking for hot deals once in a while to offer some morning tee times will be highly appreciated
Old School Fun
In Its day you can tell this was a Prime coarse. The setup is made for a good test. That time has gone, with private club features, lack of care has driven this old jewel down. Fairways are not kept, greens are not consistent and traps need sand. With that being said it was a fun day to play a coarse with character. If you are out this way it would not be a waste of time to give the old gray hen a try
No more GOLFNOW???
Played on Sunday the 8th and booked through golfnow for $17. I was told by head pro when checking in that this would be the last day he would be excepting anything from golfnow. He said he was losing money with this site. I like the course and hope the work something out because at $45 it is not worth the money. The $45 is there prime weekend rate and it drops to $35 after 1 I believe and $35 during prime time weekdays. We were a twosome and after golf spent another $30 in the restaurant which has gotten a lot better. No golfnow, no spending money in there restaurant.
Great place to play golf
Ive been playing this course for year and it just keeps on getting better. The green are always in great shape.
Straight forward course
Wide fairways with only 1 water hazard. Fun course... Greens are in great condition and roll true. Fairways and tee boxes are in great condition also. With Golfnow you can get an amazing deal and makes it well worth the price. Here are a few bunkers and very little elevation changes so if you play for the first time there I are no blind shots/guessing.
New Management...
First time playing under the new management and I have to wonder. Played on a Saturday, teed off at 12:30, we were just a twosome and played the first nine in an hour and a half. Back nine three hours, got behind a foursome that was tearing up the course, slow, and had no business playing golf. No marshal on the course and if they keep this up the course will go down hill fast. Then we go to bar to have a beer and the bartender serves us a hot beer and yes we left after that. Hope they get it together because I like playing this course. Oh and we paid $17 for our round through golf now which is a great deal and not sure I would pay the $45 they ask for at the course when other courses around the area are half that price.
great place to golf.
Happy helpful friendly people. I even lost a club and they found it for me and saved it got it next day. Good people. I'm going back !
The course gets better everytime we play it.
It's a nice course, not super long but it makes for a nice challenge.
new carts and great conditions
new management has done a great job .course is best I've seen it in years
Best Greens in the High Desert
Apple valley has really, really good greens. Well worth the money. Good fairways, can't say much for the bunkers, because I never hit one of them! I have played three more times here since my first time, and will continue to come back.
Great Greens
I really enjoy playing this course. The greens are in great condition and very pure.
Beautiful greens!
This was the 1st time that I've played the course & loved it. Very well maintained.
Ours was a late tee time, so by the time we got in from the front 9, on a Saturday, it was 5:15. There was no snack bar open! & they were in the middle of getting a liquor license for the new owner of the restaurant, so no beer.
