Not Too Shabby
I had not played NK in a little bit. I was not sure how the course would be but it was about as good as it could be. The greens I found to be very nice with just a tiny bit of sand residuals left from their last sanding but not enough to affect putts. I actually scored one of my lowest rounds ever. IF you can keep it in the fairway you get a great roll.
Oh and the burger I had was one of the best anywhere. Absolutely a must have.
Check with course!!!
I could have played cheaper than the “hot deal” on golf now.
Nice greens course could be in better condition fairways wise. Friendly people on course and I enjoyed it.
Unfriendly
They have the most unfriendly, rude man behind the counter. He always is rude about us using golf now. If it wasnt for him,we woyld play there more.
North Kern is a great deal!
The reports of this course being closed are greatly exaggerated! This course has always been underrated but in truth the long yardages make it a challenge. Tell your friends! North Kern is very playable. The condition is no worse than it has always been. It is not a country club but a true public, great deal course, go play!!

Good course ,Need a Marshall to police some golfers on rules. But other then that good round of golf
An exercise in green reading
Played Mar 13
Tees were mostly good with areas of damage and some unlevel
Fairways were hit and miss as many varieties of grass are present and dormant to green could be had as a lie
Green surrounds were also hit and miss anything from lush to bare
Rough was non existent
Greens were mostly good smooth and medium to fast. There were a few greens that had very poor patches. The difficulty is reading these greens as the land slopes mostly towards the valley bottom but visually it fools you, definitely a home course advantage here.
Good Value plays Long
Played mid March, First time playing in the Bakersfield CA area and not sure when the optimal season is.
Compared to home conditions the fairways were in rough shape overgrown with clover and many bare spots throughout. Greens were mostly in good shape and play tough but true.
Plays long White Tees over 6,500 with many par 4's over 400 yards 1 was 454 yds. Par 3's almost 200 yds.
Par 5's were a good length for 3 shot play.
Kitchen facilities were closed at 3:00 pm
Great fast round!
The few groups in front of me graciously let me play through due to my fast play and playing single. Everyone I encountered was very nice. The course demonstrated that it's fairly easy but still difficult enough to keep me honest.
Slightly dissapointed
Upon reading other reviews I thought the course might be in better condition. Roughs in between Fairways covered in mulch so they don't have to maintain it. Soaking wet greens. Golf cart broke down on the back nine. With an early tee time not sure why batteries dying after 10 holes. Cheap fees. But I'd rather play in town for a little bit more money.

I have been playing this Course for over 15 years. It needs some work right now. The greens are in good shape but the fairways are somewhat rough. Playing from the white or the back tees the course is a driving course. Meaning a good drive is necessary to score well on this course.
I have always liked the layout.
Great Value...
Booking thru app (golfnow) was a breeze.
Convienance Fee(s) are due up front thru app...green fees are due once you arrive @ Course, which in my opinion is awesome not having to pay for the entire party and playing the "collection game" from the other people in your party.
Course was in good condition.
Overall good experience and great value.
In fact, just booked another round today, from having played just yesterday !

Looks like the maintenance team is changing the layout a bit looks pretty good when done
Good
Everything was nice and well worth the price only thing I was disappointed in due to playing at twilight i believe I had to switch out my cart at 9 because it was dead. Other than that it was great!
