Plenty of water, just not going on the fairways. Most bunkers were very muddy. Several had standing water in them at noon on a day when it was 86 degrees. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Fairways were awful. Not because of the drought. This course has reclaimed water and it was very muddy in many places. Seems like their grounds crew is off for 2015. Photo submitted by danstone360 on 07/25/2015

Beautiful late October 18
I played on the last Saturday in October 24, I was shocked to find out that i was playing alone on a 75 degree day. I was told to head out when ready (20 minutes before tee time). I hit the putting green for 5 minutes before heading out to the #1 tee. I had the tee box to myself and no one else on the first hole, I teed off at 12:45 and landed in a trap 175 yards from the hole. The trap was raked perfectly, and I ended up with a sandy par. The green on the 2nd hole was vandalized in the past and open but still healing. I continued and was pleased with the wide-open fairways and the low number of leaves throughout the course. I did not catch the three some in front of me until the 7th hole and played the front nine in 1hour 45 minutes. The group in front of me allowed time to work on my game, putting, chipping etc before heading to the next hole. The back nine took 2hours 10 minutes for a 3hour 55 minute round.
This was my first time playing BGC so my review is based on that. The course was in good shape with winter conditions in a few wet areas and was very enjoyable for a 12 handicapper
extra charge
Have played many times at Brentwood, Enjoy the course, and staff, but this was my first time playing as a single
If you book with golf pass and you playing single there is an additional charge of $20.00.
course over watered
the fairways and tee box are too wet. not every hole but is noticrable.
Used to be a great layout
I have golfed at Brentwood since it opened with three 9 hole courses, an executive par 3 and one of the courses as a walkable 9 hole. The staff has always been friendly and they are still that way.
The first problem is the course itself that is in poor condition with improvised tee boxes and rodents gone wild. They don't have enough maintenance help and the course is beginning to look like a "dog track".
Secondly, some golfers choose to not replace divots/ marks on the greens and to top it off, several greens had "holes punched" from the flag stick. It is beyond rude and unnecessary to vent any frustration on the course which only compounds the issues. We have lost 3 courses in East County over the last few years and it wouldn't surprise me if Brentwood decided it wasn't worth it to keep the course open.
A Little Rough
The course has some fun golf holes but it's a little rough. New or what appeared to be temporary or new holes weren't clearly marked. Carts were tattered and rips on seats, brake was bad and it was really noisy.
I won't come back unless I hear its getting better. Good points are the holes that are good are fun, some fairways are nice. The GolfNow hotdeal peice was fair.
course lay out
They should have kept the original lay out of the course, they deleted 5 holes and made another 5 different holes, the original holes had so much fun to play, they just screwed it up totally, but I still like to play at this course because of the price.
Not great
I was surprised there was no areas to practice putting and chipping and the “driving range” is more like a wedge range once you can’t hit it more than 180 yards because of risking nearby houses.
The course needs work. Fun layout but I wouldn’t pay full price.
Overall
The course usually has good tee time selection and a decent value for the money. The many changes to the course over the years have not been as positive. But as a backup selection it’s good.
My personal favorite
Beginner at golf. Brentwood provides a great environment, staff if helpful and friendly. course is challenging for me, helps me improve my game.
Worth Playing
Great value;, private course design, afternoons not crowded.
Course under construction/repair. Very limited driving range. Only snacks available before 11. No water on the course on a 100 degree day
Enjoyable Golf Once Again
I have been playing Brentwood GC frequently over the past few months, and I always find it a good, soild round of golf. The fairways were fine, albeit a little soggy in spots. The greens werre in excellent shape and rolled well. Traps can use some work, but there was new sand in a few of them. Overall, it was enjoyable golf. Brrentwood GC is not a country club, nor does it claim to be. It is just a good, fun muni course with some really interesting holes. I like it. It's why I keep going back. The clubhouse staff are outstanding. Some of the best people I have come across in my many years of playing golf. The negatives...don't get stuck behind the "locals". They take their sweet time and seem to have a total disregard for others on the course. They make a good four hour round into a five and a half hour round. The other negative is the new green on the par 5 - 15th hole. It is one of the most ridiculously unfair greens I have ever played. It is an upside down soup bowl, and nothing sticks when you are approaching the green. Once you are on the green, there is a likelihood that your putt may roll completely off the green. I appreciate the new configuration of the course, but there is plenty of room to build a much better green on that hole. They really need to look and re-doing that green. However, the positives far outweight the negatives, and I will be back!
