Course Getting Better
I last played here over the summer and the course was pretty much unplayable with flooded fairways, over grown or dead grass, etc. It has improved and was in much better condition. It seems like there is ongoing maintenance to continue the improvements. I probably wouldn’t recommend it at this point but things are improving there.

Marshall which we never see during the round pushed everyone off the course at 5:30!

Time heals all
Love this course, probably the best public layout in contra Costa.. it's been improving over the last few years. Green complexes are great and they have them firm and fast. Fairways are healing but have grass. Bunkers are incredibly expensive to repair and maintain (for hear probably 2 million to install proper underdrains and replenish sand and around hundred thousand per year.) Pace of play can be unbearable (low rates no courses nearby so get quite a few weekend hackers). All in all go early worth your time especially if you get hot deal or golf now rate

Greens and fairways looking great.
I play this course all the time because it’s close to my house. I haven’t play there in 2 months because of rain. The course is coming along nicely. Just a little maintenance on tee boxes. Everything else looks good.

The course
Fairway is in good condition but the green is brown and some tee box is under repair but for price on Teeoff I will play again !!!

Course is in good shape considering all things
Good Price, Pace of Play is alitt;e towards the slower side. Have fun when Im there. Will play there again.
Course Was Not Open
We drive to the course and it was not open, despite the fact that we booked a tee time. GolfNow has not refunded us, and the first representative said the golf course was open. It was not…the gate was locked and when I walked around the back, the pro shop was locked and empty. Fortunately, the second rep I called admitted they could not reach the golf course by phone and elevated my refund request to a supervisor. I am still waiting to hear back on my refund.

Beautiful course. A shame it’s closing!
The 9 hole Diablo course is beautiful, challenging and fun. It’s well laid out, and has lot’s of variety. The maintenance is not great. Lots of fallen leaves, weeds and patchy turf. But that could be fixed. This course is apparently closing on 1/1/23. That’s a big loss for golfers, the area, and the residents whose houses back up to it. Sad to see a well designed, lovely golf course shut down!

Not worth the money
No driving range. (Incorrect info when booking on Golf Now)
Terrible practice “cages” - I lost 2 balls through the back.
Putting green closed.
No water (1 free bottle when checking in)
Some people didn’t get carts.
SLOW pace and no staff help with it.
Even though there’s construction and bad fairways, tee boxes, etc., you can’t drive on almost half the holes! This slows the pace even more!
Terrible pace and owner
The course sends out groups of 5 and 6 and then expects the carts in by 4:30. The owner doesnt want the complaints, you must complain to the pro shop worker. Go to shadow lakes or lone tree before giving this cheap owner money. Bad conditions and terrible pace.

Nice weather
The highlight was seeing a fat, healthy coyote on the 18th hole looking at a group of geese.
I lost two balls in two different water holes and still shot a 90, making this course a relatively easy course for an old duffer like me.
