Brentwood Golf Club - Creekside/Hillside Course

Oh my word. We live on the course and in the past purchased cart fees to be able to drive our own cart. Now, we can not only drive our own cart but the cart provided has GPS with the capability to shut down if you drive in the wrong area. It totally holds up play because you can’t move the cart without pushing into an allowable area, if you can push it. I’m 60 years old and actually hurt my knee trying to push it. The new owner has put up signs where you can enter and exit the course and if you try to divert forget it! Owner is totally micromanaging the players time on the course. It is supposed to be a fun event but this play was nothing but frustration and yes, anger. There are 6-8 holes you can’t drive on at all too. Not an enjoyable course. I Could keep going with other issues but this will allow most players to understand what they are facing when playing the course. Fairways and course grass is getting better than in the past.

Nice upgrade overall and greens are perfect. I would recommended to follow the signs as they have implemented sensors that if you get off course the golf cart turns off and you will need to push the cart. So be aware. Good feature to keep the course in good shape.

This is a decent course and is in fair condition; better than it was just a couple months ago. Somewhat recently added GPS trackers to the carts which disable them when a player goes into an area of the course that they are not supposed. However, these trackers do not work well and they are constantly disabling carts which are not in restricted areas. The group in front of us had a cart lock up on the cart path…. This is usually a slow course but these GPS trackers have slowed down the pace of play even more. I won’t be coming back.

We had a very negative experience at Brentwood golf course.

Josh in the pro shop was very unwelcoming and condescending. Jonathan the starter on the other hand was very pleasant. 2:30 in the afternoon the sprinklers came on in the middle of our round . Staying dry and hitting a good golf shot became very challenging after a while . It is a cow pasture !! Countless brown spots and one could easily tell that weed control was a major issue here . $ 50 ??? I don’t think so .... even for free , I would not return .

Usually like playing this course but played at 11:00 and when we got to the back nine it took 30 minutes before we can tee off on 10th 11th and 12th holes no Marshall and no sense of urgency from the groups ahead of us they were asking the cart lady to make margaritas that’s took an extra 15 minutes for them to move after the 14th hole we packed it in and went home turned into a joke at that point all in all it took about 5 to play 14 holes

A lot of the rough has dead patches or just dirt. Sand is missing just hard pan or soaking wet. Course just got mowed and lots of grass just left on the grass and the green looks like heavy patches lots of dead spot

This course is finally starting to look beautiful. The grass is nice and green, the layout is challenging, yet beginner friendly. I play her 3-4 times a week and love it. You can either play the walk friendly 9 hole Diablo, or the more challenging 18 hole Hillside/Creekside. The staff is friendly and the owner is always around and a very nice guy. I would recommend this course.

Aside from a brutally windy day (17-30mph), this was a fun course. Some of the tee boxes need some TLC and some of the fairways were a little "shaggy". I believe, if they continue to maintain this course, it'll be in fine shape soon. Definitely coming back again.

If you want to play on a Monday, make sure it is after 1:00. Otherwise you will be behind the men’s league.

I’ve played this course when it was great and when it was close to shutting down. The course is in great shape and I can’t wait to get out soon. Fairways are getting there and the greens are always rolling true.

I just moved to Brentwood in Feb and played here for the first time. I was hoping that this would be by new home course since I now live close by. After playing my round, I liked the course layout and thought the golf course had some nice holes. And from what I heard from my playing partner, the course has improved a lot from last year after the new owners started improving things. But it still has quite a bit to go I think. The greens and fairways were not all consistently maintained. Some greens had many patches, or were not mowed (very slow). Same for some fairways. Worst part was my cart that kept stopping after I happen to enter a "cart path only" fairway, or sometimes just driving to the next T box. Very frustrating. Not having a driving range or someone keeping pace of play would be nice. And sometimes it's also the little things...like the abandoned and rusting vending machine next to the men's room that has a door that would not close and would just stay open. I would like to play here again in the future. This course has a lot of potential. Hopefully, things improve soon enough.

Well, finally the fairways are in good condition. The grass has grownup and is in good shape. However, I played on a Saturday and had guys in lawnmowers in my way and noisy the entire front nine. The grass definitely needed ti be mowed. I’d hit in the fairway and had a difficult time finding my ball because the grass was so long. You pay a premium to play on the weekends and expect the course to be ready. Then, they put these GPS tracking devices on the carts to get you to stick to the cart path or whatever designation they want. No one explained this when getting there and if you get off the cart route the thing shuts down on you and locks you out. It did this several times while even on the actual cart path. One time it stopped as I was crossing the street and approaching the tee. It dies and won’t move, very frustrating. Then it decided to go 0.5 mph. Terrible experience. I left early because I was tired of fighting with the cart. I live in Brentwood but typically go to either Antioch or Livermore to play. I give my local course a shot every couple of months but every time I realize how poorly managed it is and don’t go back for a few. The Diablo course is great though if you want to walk nine holes and practice. But for the money to play the 18 it’s better other places. Hopefully gets better
