Date Palm Country Club
About
Nestled in Coachella Valley, Date Palm Country Club sits at the base of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa mountain ranges, providing nearly every hole on the golf course with a stunning view. The course is the centerpiece of a popular retirement community near Palm Springs, a location that enjoys nice weather year-round and is just 20 minutes from shopping, dining, and museums. The layout is on the shorter side, but it still has some challenging holes. The golf course demands accuracy with every contour of the rolling terrain and you'll be put to the test even further when maneuvering the small greens and narrow fairways. The bunkering is minimal but strategic at Date Palm C.C., and the occasional water hazard also comes into play. In addition to the golf course, there is a practice putting green.

Date Palm C.C.
Rode the Blues (3029/54.1/80) with Chris and Lisa in 3H on a GN Hot Deal, $26.49 including fees. The weather was clear, around 90 and breezy. First time playing this Ted Robinson Jr. Executive course that is around 50 years old. Straight forward, traditional desert layout that snakes through an upscale manufactured home community. About a half dozen lakes come prominently into play, four short par 4's and fourteen par 3's. I think I used a dozen different clubs, the layout is a good mixture of holes. The tees were mediocre, decent coverage and a few were crowned. You can tell most people use irons continually on most tees, lots of old divots. The fairways were mostly lush poa annua, nice to play from, mowed close. Same for the rough, which was maintained just a little higher than the fairways, good coverage and not penal to play from. The sand traps were nicely raked but were poor overall. All 3 sand shots I had there was no an adequate cushion before you hit hardpan underneath. The shape of the smallish Bermuda greens was a pleasant surprise. They held irons well, I was surprised how many irons I backed up on these greens and they putted true. However, you had to blast the ball... woefully slow. More like putting on the fringe on most courses. The customer service was great at check-in. No frills course, no driving range, very small putting green. Do not remember any water stations on the course, but they have complementary water available at the clubhouse. If you like Ted Robinson layouts and short courses, you would probably enjoy it. Overall, not bad for a short course, the layout was decent. However, could not recommend because of the woefully slow greens.
Great little course
Play date palm few times a winter, great little course and rates are great!!
Nice Course!
This is a very nice executive course. The course is kept in great shape. It's a challenge for the average golfer. The above average golfer will be challenged but you can tame it. I had fun playing it and you will as well!!
Great executive course
Enjoyed our round on this course. A more casual place with holes not too long for the less than expert players.
Fun Resort Course few tough holes
Very fun course if you don't have time for a full course playing with varying levels of ability
4 tough Par 3's 180-195 yds
Lot's of water
Greens play true but very slow
Bunkers have too much sand in them, don't hear that very often
Services are average, friendly associates
Great resort 18 hole course
