slow
I stopped playing here years a go because of slow play. Last minute decision to try again but just another 5+ hour round. Didn't see one marshal all day!!
Afternoon delight
After getting out a little late we battled the long course with all we had. Late afternoon the greens were still holding up and we had to deal with the wind. Some slow walkers kept the pace down and we backed up on the par 3's. We finished after 5 1/2 hrs of pure fun. Can't wait to tee it up again.
Better than expected...
played either of these courses in 15+ years.
Staff was kinda friendly. Starter was cool. Rest of the pro shop is courteous enough not to be rude, but not overly friendly. If you have a question you're probably better off asking a random golfer/customer you see out there, or the starter/check in guy.
The course was in good shape. Maybe a random bare spot or dead grass but overall the course was in better shape than I remember it being in years ago. Pace was better than expected too. Not fast necessarily, but acceptable. Played the front in 2.5 hours and the back in <2 hours. Didn't see a Marshall or beverage cart.
Fun course that I'd play again.
Pace of Play?
Where do I start? This has to be the worst pace of play golf course in all of Orange County. Starter and Marshall are both ok with regulars and “friends” having a 5 some even 6 some groups on holiday weekend... With 6 minute grace period between tee times management is trying to load up the course to capacity which causes major backup and a course that should be an easy 4 hour round turn into a 5.5 hour day. Even if you book a 7am tee time, expect major delays. I would rather pay $10-$20 more at another course for a more pleasurable experience. Would not recommend if you have plans after your round.
Pace of play, course length, and amenities
Tee sheet and pace of play was seriously mismanaged. Right away our tee time was moved back 30 mins which we didn’t know until we pulled up to hole 1 where there were 4 groups waiting to tee off. The front 9 took almost 3 hours with about 5-10 mins between each shot. I assumed they’d do something to speed up play but there was virtually no attempt. Our round was over 5 hours. The course we played (Mesa Linda) was in good shape and had a fun layout but it’s pretty short. Even from the tips.
Overall we had a fun day but pace management needs serious improvement. If this is the norm, I would not recommend playing at Costa Mesa. If this is not the normal pace then I would definitely recommend.
Took an hour to finish first 2 holes… pace didn’t pick ip
6 hour round on a Friday
Pace of play was horrible, too many tee times booked and not enough gapping between.
Was a 6 hour round on a Friday at 12 pm
If you would spent 6hour? Then play
They are blinded by the greed of money, overbooking and making golfers wait. It took 3 hours and 10 minutes to play 9 holes in the first half. Friday 12:57 hot deal was $48 but this is not a hot deal. If you're confident to wait 15 minutes for every hole, please play. The course condition wasn't bad.
SLOW
Course is cheap for a reason. Round will take 6 hours and you’ll most likely be behind several 5man groups. Stay away
Hole-in-ONE
My reflections on the day may be tempered by my first hole-in-one on the 150 yd par 3 17th (Los Lagos).!
