About
The David L. Baker Golf Course is an affordable public course located in Fountain Valley. It has an approachable layout that is versatile enough to appeal to a range of different skill levels. No two holes are alike but all of the greens and fairways share the same excellent conditions. Water has a prominent presence on this executive golf course with lakes and ponds running alongside many of the holes. The sloped greens are lightning fast and the fairways are tightly manicured. Beside the greens lurk treacherous sand traps that are just waiting to swallow errant shots. Although there are some tricky holes, the layout is gentle enough for beginners. It is an enjoyable and affordable round that offers excellent short game practice, no matter what skill level.

Took forever
The pace of play was very very slow. We ended up waiting for two groups at every hole. Some of the tee boxes had mushy hard dirt spots. Two teenagers ended up trespassing onto the course waking straight down the fairways picking up golfers golf balls, finally the Marshall got them off the course. All in all, it wasn’t the best baker experience, in fact it was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had there, but atleast the staff was friendly and understanding.
The pace of play was awful the couple times I’ve played here. Doesn’t matter the day, you will be waiting for at least two groups a hole. Probably won’t be coming back until they space out the tee times.
Not bad for the price,
Staff is great. Course kinda short. Not a par 5 hole to be found. Fairly well kept. Driving range is dirt. Still fun though.
Expensive, crowded and slow
They have no starter, which contributes to the horrible pace of play. We teed off 20 minutes late (7:45am tee time). There was a group of 5 two groups in front of us.
The driving range is always filled even in the morning so it’s hard to find a spot to warm up before a round. A lot of old folks use the range as their social hour(s).

Marshall is useless
Course allows fivesomes, sharing of clubs, on-course amateur lessons, beginners hitting multiple tee shots all over the course, At one point, there were four groups waiting to tee off on hole 6. We asked for marshall intervention, and they did nothing. Normally less than three hours, our round took almost five hours.
We love this course, but please hire a more effective marshall.

Pace of play
Pace of play is not good, starter allows 6 players not good at completing four players. if you let a twosome out u will see them join a 3 or player game.
greens are not kept well very inconsistent.

They seem to be allowing more 5-somes lately. A couple of them slowed pace way down last weekend.

Cours layout
The green conditions were good. Fairways are nice and wide but have some dry spots. The pace of play was good. Recommend during hot weather due to close proximity to the ocean.
