Willowick Golf Course

Now i went into playing this course with low expectations given the price and reviews online but i'm always looking to play new courses.

I'm sure some locals and/or beginners enjoy this course and prob disagree with this review (which is fine), but as a +10 handicap who plays 3-4x per month, this course might have been the worst course I've played in my 20-plus years of golfing. Played on a Saturday at noon. pros and cons below:

pros - pace of play, about 4.5 hours which was impressive in socal; green conditions (fast/well kept/evenly cut), $2 bottle of water, allows grass hitting on driving range

cons - a true trailer-park country club, saw a foursome with two men with no shirts on (never have seen this before), no beverage cart, no bathrooms on course, course maintenance very poor, uncut tee boxes, tall weeds patches in fairways, you will need to see a chiropractor after hitting all bumps, gopher holes, mud holes, standing water that smells of raw sewage... place is a dump.

Marshall quick to sent us out on our tee time. Pace of play was pretty good. Fairway were alot better and Green were very good. No cart person and club house is trebble services. Cook leaving at 2pm on Sat and Sunday. Why? Got to bring your own ice chest and food.

My first time here and I was impressed by the cleanliness and condition of the course. There were a few muddy areas and some areas where the cart path needs work, but overall it was a very fun time and the pace of play was great. I will definitely be back!

Good value greens are good. Fairways are rough but workable. Sometime it is hard to find ball in rough next to fairways. Very wet and lots of holes and unevenness that hides the ball.

The greens were really slow and not true. Looks like they painted the greens. Bumpy.

Most of the time the greens are pretty good, not yesterday. (7/21/26)

Play here alot. It's willowwick, you know what your getting when you play here. It's not top tier but it's a good walk on a Thursday after work with your work buddies. Anyway they appear to be timing their tee box sprinklers to set off at 7pm, on every tee box. The sun is out to 8pm now and finishing 18 holes is very doable this time of year for twilight. Very disappointing as I can only assume this is a ploy to get people to leave before sun goes down. Sadly, we left our round at the 15 hole. Beware they are doing this, it seems.

Fairways and greens in good condition - rough was basically gopherland

Its an easy course to get on because they oversell tee times. I saw groups of 5, groups of 4, groups of 2, and even a single. They stack too many people and this inconsistency in group size kills the rate of play. I've never finished in under 5 hours here no matter the time of day. Its decently maintained. Staff is friendly and accommodating.

Get ready for a very bumpy ride if you plan to ride a cart. Bunker sand is packed and difficult to get out of cleanly. Be sure to bring your own hydration because there is no cart girl or hydration station. That said, I lost no balls. That’s the main positive.

Fun course for the price but being a woman I definitely would recommend a couple porta potties for us ladies
