Opened in 1929, Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana is Orange County's oldest public golf course. It is a challenging layout that has garnered a quite a following over the years. The course features wide fairways and large greens that offer ample room. There aren’t any water hazards a few strategically placed sand traps come into play and there are also mature trees lining the fairways. Golfers will get to practice a variety of different shots on this course. It is player-friendly enough for high-handicappers but there are still some challenges for low handicappers. Not all your fault
Probably should have known why the golf now rate was 25 bucks because the course was punching the greens that day all they had open was the back nine with long unmowed greens. Can't blame it all on willowick but the golf now pricing does not intimate that the greens are being punched. Coarse conditions are raw. Even in the best of times. You need a kidney belt riding around on a cart because the fairway is and rough's are so bumpy
Its a good value
Relatively long course with some difficult holes but fun
Great course on a budget
If you’re looking not to spend a whole lot and can get out anytime plenty of teetimes.
Good bang for buck.
Played twilight, for $35, good deal. Wide fairways, good roll on fairways & fast/ffirm greens. Only downside no water.
Excellent value for a round of golf
The conditions of the course has improved tremendously. After the first 3 holes the pace of play picks up nicely. The Wick is a great place to play.
Okay course to play
Old course in Orange County and pretty beat up still fun and can’t complain about the value to play
Brian was awesome!! Truly an asset...handled a difficult situation with professionalism and grace
The Wick
As I've said before, the Wick is exactly like I like my woman -- cheap and easy!!
adorable course of moderate challenge
Willowick is an affordable course offering some long holes. There are no water hazards and not a lot of bunkers, but there are some strategically placed to be challenging. The course conditions can vary, especially the rough, which is sometimes very rough. The staff and golfers are friendly.
I like trying new courses and this is one I will not be back to.
I originally was thinking I was playing Meadowlark but somehow confused it with willowick. It was every bit of what you'd expect in municipal course to be but with no character. I'd rather play Costa Mesa Meadowlark or just about any other course. Sure they had some holes that had some length to them which made it more fun than Newport Beach Golf Course, but the sand traps were concrete and the layout was relatively boring.
The Wick has great features
Very helpful and friendly staff, could not ask for anything more.
