This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.

You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.

Eighteen of its 27 holes went through a massive renovation a few years ago. Some of the most dramatic changes are on the greens, once generally flat and small and tilting from back to front to allow the greens to hold shots almost to a fault. Many greens on the course today have been expanded to as much as 6,000 square feet.

The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

The Mountain nine is probably the toughest of the three, with plenty of hills out on the course and plenty of slope on the greens. The Mountain nine also boasts a rare par-4 island green.

Birthday round

Came out for the weekend and found this place. Wasn’t crowded…staff was great and the course was fair. Would definitely come back.

Not much

I understand that they were getting ready to overseed. At some point you should stop taking money for golf, when the conditions are so poor. Range balls came in a grocery bag of "found" golf balls. Indian nine was dated and boring. The Royal nine was better and could be okay with grass. Missing signage, rundown. Staff was friendly.

Avoid at all costs- so poorly maintained

If I could describe to you the worst maintained course I’ve ever seen, I would’ve described something better than this course. I have never experienced such poorly maintained greens, tee boxes, fairways, you name it-it was abhorrent.

There were multiple Ant mounds all over the greens, if you can even call them that- because that would imply they were actually green. The tee boxes were not even remotely consistently labeled, horribly cut and there were burnt spots everywhere along almost every fairway, not to mention cut limbs left everywhere on the fairways too.

To charge $135 for 2 golfers is just insane, especially considering how many people they attempted to stack up on top of each other to the point where when we hit the turn, people were trying to scalp our golf cart because they were out of carts before 10am.

I will tell everyone I come across to avoid this course to save them from the disappointment. This shouldn’t even be listed as an available course to book.

Horrible conditions, fast pace of play

We were set to tee off at 7:02 , we arrived at 6:30 to hit the range. We were prompted to tee off right away by the starter to avoid any groups. There was only one other group of 5 carts playing together as a group so we tee’d off the back 9 (Indian course.) the green side sprinklers were still going by the time we hit the green, leaving us to put in a swampy mess. The conditions were atrocious, over grown tee boxes and fairways. Good luck finding your ball. The included photo is the tee box. The greens were slower than molasses. It appeared that the Indian 9 was closed but they sent us out anyway. You could be liable to lose your ball in the fairway it was so overgrown and unkempt . The back nine was slightly better and appeared to be maintained about half way. Green keepers are aloof and expect you to hit into them while they are maintaining the course. Oh well. We did finish in about 3 hours without seeing another group after teeing off. Ghost town vibes

Save your money or play at one of the many other better courses in the area.

Indian Palms Country Club

This course is worst than playing in a cow pasture. It’s like playing in a dirt driving range that hasn’t had watch in years. Patches fairways, over brown tee boxes and dirt putting greens. Golfpass should cancel this course

Worst in Coachella Valley

Used to be a nice course, hadn't played in years. Looks like they are giving up this course for good. I was the only person on the course that I saw playing. I play in the Coachella Valley very often and this is by far the worst course I've seen in years. Don't waste your money.

Best Last Minute Tee Time

Stayed in Indio with the family for my son’s birthday, and the wife gave me the green light to squeeze in a round before we headed out. I was hoping to beat the heat with an early tee time and the only nearby option was Indian Palms — and honestly, it didn’t disappoint. Teed off at 6:30am, had the course completely to myself, and had a great time.

Now, the course could use some TLC — the greens were a bit rough and some tee boxes were pretty beat up. Layout’s traditional, nothing wild, but enough to keep it fun. Would I play here again? Sure… but more of a last-minute backup kind of spot.

The major of the grass on the fairway was either dead or dying. The greens were horrible, same conditions as the fairways. My party was expecting a far better golf course with it being on a country club. I guess I got my money worth with only paying $40 a player. We should have played a the PGA West course.

So bad

First of all the greens were all puddled with water. One green has a hose running on it like wth. On the last hole a worker took my ball off the fairway and switched it w an old dusty ball . When i confronted him about it he said he didnt speak english . Worst place ive played at. Will never go back!!!!!

Flag color placement

They don't conform to the standard color flag placement. I saw a blue flag (hole back), but the hole was actually front. Needles to say I hit my shot deep over the green. Frustrating.

Lack of Care

I live at IPCC and the course has continue to go down. It is the lack of care by the owner and management.

The staff work hard to give us a quality of golf and the food in the Hanger is very good.

Sandy fairways

Mixed spots of grass sand and hard dirt on the fairways.
