Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Course needs maintenance
Paid 25 dollars, so what could you expect, a not well maintained course, but pace was great at least.
Good course - conditions were not best
This is a historic and interesting place to golf. It’s got SO MUCH potential and natural beauty. It would be a hidden gem worthy of their green fees if only the owner understood - and the course manager paid for decent maintenance. The course looks like a cross between a county landfill and an overused public park. Weeds, unraked bunkers with little sand, overgrown bushes and hedges, filthy smelling ponds that look more like oversized Petri dishes than water - and a big man starter with a draconian personality make it a bad choice. It’s clear they care little about having a nice complex and more about ripping off golfers. I’d be EMBARRASSED to be the owner and would resign in disgrace if I called myself the Course Manager. It’s become the joke of the valley - and is now a place for frustrated homeowners and drunk rally hat wearing foursomes who are here to rent clubs, drive golf carts drunk once a year - or are on parole. STAY AWAY at all costs
The reason we play here is hot deals through golf now and it is close to us. Course conditions on all three 9’s are r not great. You cannot hit out of sand traps. Are not kept up at all. Needs fresh sand and maintenance.
Indian good, Mountain bad.
I would not recommend if they put you on the Mountain 9 until it's overseeded!!
Played Indian 9, recently overseeded, fairways and greens were a bit long but were bein cut. Good condition. Mountain 9 for the back and it was in terrible shape. No overseeding, bare fairways, greens were terrible, bunkers were hard packed with no sign of being maintained. Surprised they let people play it. Hope it is getting maintained soon, apparently Royal 9 is in good shape. Check before booking to avoid the Mountain 9.
Snack shack closed, no beverage cart.
Saddened
Mountain course looked like it’s been totally neglected!
In comparison Royale was in pretty good shape.
We have golfed here many times in other years before the pandemic and found the courses to be in decent shape however this season we were sadden by the neglect of the Mountain course.
Hopefully it will be closed and given some much needed attention before they send golfers out on it or I’m certain no one will not come back!
Ant hills on greens
I have never played a course that had active ant hills on the greens, as did several greens on Royal. No sand in bunkers on Mountain. Several forward tee areas were not mown on Mountain. One bunker on Royal was driven through by some large vehicle. The course was obviously poorly maintained.
Course in Bad Shape
We golfed here last year and the course has really deteriorated since then. Several bunkers and rough areas are not being maintained at all and are growing in or dying Also the greens on the Mountain course were barely puttable. Very bumpy. Owners need to put a little more money into the course if they want us to come back. Definitely not worth the cost of golfing there.
Dirt
Our first 9 was the Mountain course which is obviously close to being reseeded But it was so dry and many holes were 50% dirt. The greens were hard pan and awful. The 2nd nine was Royal and in decent shape. But the pace of play was glacial. A course Marshall was needed. We play Indian Palms often andr this was by far the very worst day
