Over priced for value
St Marks has made several upgrades to their course and it is better than it “was“ however I found these deficiencies overwhelming: It appears that they only roll the greens on either the back half for the front half of the course. Yesterday the greens were extremely bumpy on the front half while they were relatively smooth on the back half. There are many spots in the fairways that were dirt. I found the pain 80+ dollars for a round of golf at this course was overpriced. This of course is due to Covid as there are not a lot of options for other activities.
Horrendous conditions
Wow this course is in bad shape. Two days after rain and the word we used to describe it all day was “soupy”. Entire course is basically under repair. Greens were actually in ok shape, but everything else was simply unplayable at times.
Golfing between the Rain
Had a wonderful time. When golf alone you meet new golfers. You make new friends in my case friends that help. The weather was great, the course was soggy. I have my golf cart lose power boom. They came with a new charged cart in minutes of the call. Golf is a friendly game. Oh GOOD LUCK JARED. He’s playing this weekend.

Greens were rolling
One of my favorite courses. Greens were in great shape. Love the lay out of this course.
Ride vs walking
The course is in good shape. My only problem is they charge to ride. Never did before. It stinks.
Right in front of you
Great course, great pro shop, beautiful dining and friendly staff. My one complaint would be the GREEN... EVERYWHERE. ALL over my clubs, my shoes, my putter, my towels. Freakin irritating. Don’t let that stop you tho.
A great in town get away!
This is my home course. I typically walk to the course, play nine to eleven holes in a late afternoon. From there, my wife and or the family will join me for dinner on the patio with live music (check the schedule). Nice amenities, great service (ask for Paul Ortega at the bar), and wonderful way to feel a club atmosphere open to the public.
Miss the "mark" for recreational golfers
I have played this course a few times a year for the last 20 years. I play well over 100 rounds at various courses in the north San Diego area each year. The course has always been stuck with the aged layout. The houses line the course tightly and define the flow. Unfortunately most people can't help hitting the houses (not me), too bad for the residents. And BTW why invite people to "go for it" on #14? You are just asking for house bombing, maybe move or fill in the pond. Today I played first tee time and was paired with guys hitting balls all over the neighborhoods. Not the real problem. The fairways were in horrible shape, mixed grasses and dead spots painted green. Over-watered tee boxes that were slippery and difficult to find reasonable places to tee from. The sand bunkers are just OK, not the best quality and quantity of sand. The greens have always been tough with too much slope in many places, so why cut them so fast? It doesn't make sense, many unfair pin placements with the ball rolling back to you. If you want to be a PGA destination then OK fix everything raise the price and the local golfers won't play. Realistically make the course playable and inviting for the average recreational golfer. Don't ask me how to do all of that, not my job! I don't want to hear that COVID has limted your income to fix things, since most courses are booked solid and have been for months, raking in money. Oh by the way I love what you have done with the tee box monuments and landscaping over the years, it helps, a little.
