Excellent Condition
Loved the course in spite of the difficult and fast greens. Course conditions were great.
SLOW PACE AND POOR FAIRWAYS
I played here after having payed earlier in January. The pace of play was VERY slow. 4 hours and 55 minutes to play 18 holes. The fairways are in poor shape. Grass, what little there is, is cut vary low. Also, I made a reservation on line for $46.00 but then was charged a $24.00 cart fee which I thought was excessive. Plus warm-up balls, totaled $76.00 to play a less than average golf course. On a positive note, the greens were in pretty good shape and putting fast.
Lovely course!
Played St Mark, Eagle Crest and Mt Woodson over three days. St Mark was the best of them!
Windy and rainey
Tough conditions windy and rainy. I have played it many times and like the course but it was winter conditions so there was a lot of ground under repair. I am hoping that things will be better soon. I am 75 so it is tough for me. when it is rainy.
slow play
4 hours and 30 minutes is too long;
no marshals anywhere to enforce pace;
teed off 10 minutes after scheduled time.
course condition is okay
Owner sucks
Starter and all staff great except owner who always changes pricing and argues with customers. He should not be able to collect fees
Let his employees do it
I know of several people who will never play there again because of him
A Rewarding 18 Holes in San Marcos
Really enjoyed this course. The front nine was being airated, so it's not in perfect condition and all the greens were sanded as they prepare them for another season. In spite of this, the course was in good condition, especially the back nine where the fairways had been completely reseeded and were greened up. The front nine were in the process and will be great in another month or so. The back nine showed how nice it will be when they are completed with the process. Lot's of challenging holes, some a little tight, so hit it straight. Elevation gains made the elevated tee's a joy. Some long par-4's required a solid Driver off the tee and then a 3-wood to reach the green. Look forward to playing there again. They also have a wonderful terrace for drinks plus local Craft Beers on tap and a great food selection after the round.
Over priced for value
St Marks has made several upgrades to their course and it is better than it “was“ however I found these deficiencies overwhelming: It appears that they only roll the greens on either the back half for the front half of the course. Yesterday the greens were extremely bumpy on the front half while they were relatively smooth on the back half. There are many spots in the fairways that were dirt. I found the pain 80+ dollars for a round of golf at this course was overpriced. This of course is due to Covid as there are not a lot of options for other activities.
