Interesting and scenic course but way too slow!!
We very much enjoyed the course design and personality. It is very scenic with no houses around to spoil the view. I was very playable but some tough holes. We wanted to play 18 holes and moved along fairly well on the front 9 but at the 10th hole we hit a wall. Where all the players came from I don't know but suddenly there were several groups ahead of us and we waited and waited on every hole. As we started around noon we were losing daylight and still waiting on every hole so we gave up and didn't finish. That will probably prevent us from coming back. There is something wrong when you move along nicely on the front 9 and then suddenly there's a jam-up on the back 9. Obviously the pro shop is allowing late afternoon players to start on the back .. in front of players already out there. Not good!
Undulations in fairways and greens with tough pin placements
Open fairways dotted with undulations and a few monster sand traps keeps you on your toes. The greens are pretty good size but the undulations and pin placements are tricky. I've palyed the course twice and experienced a backup on the 10th both times. We played the front 9 twice the first time thinking we wouldn't finish b4 dark. (12:00 t-time). We did get 18 in the 2nd time with 12:10 t-time. The "Hot Deals" keep this course a good value even for the 35 min drive from S. Sac.
Very friendly course
We were greeted by a very pleasant staff and were informed about the course in advance. Would play the course again when we r back in the area.
Great price for round of golf
They let 2 guys share a set of club made slow play not good. Not keeping up with the golf carts both of our carts ran out of battery and had to be replaced during the round
Course has difficult green approach, on a platoe.
If you miss the greens you ball rolls down the side and can cost a shot. Most of the holes will not allow the ball to role onto the greens.
Friendly staff, challenging course.
This was the first time I golfed there. The course was a challenge for me, but I want to go back and try it again sometime.
Very nice course, challenging and well maintained.
Received a warm welcome from staff upon arrival, and got right out on the course .Course was challenging and well maintained. I liked the greens. Would like to play again.
Nice layout and design, challenging holes but play is WAY TO SLOW because they send players off the 10th tee in front of players making the turn.
This course has a nice layout and design with plenty of challenge for the single handicap golfer. Good variety of holes and tough greens. I would play this course regularly if not for the fact they let players start on the back nine(10th hole) which are literally cutting in front of players making the turn who have started from hole 1. VERY FRUSTRATING because this obviously slows play way down. No course I know of ever does this because of that fact. I played here twice this year on a Friday, teeing off mid morning and both times it happened, so wont go back because of this. 5 hour round on a weekday is way too long for me.
COURSE WAS TO WET.
there are some good challenging holes, greens are decent, and course is fun to play. Conditions were to wet and greens were slow and tees need work. But overall I would say it is a fun course to play.
nice layout, fun course from the whites
2nd time i played here. Fun course 6200 from whites so good challenge.
good layout
Played course was in good shape greens were rolling really nice tough to read distance control with all the undulations but was a good challenge
Love the rolling hills. The side hillside lies make it more of a challenge. If you want flat, play another course.
We arrived early enough to enjoy a bite to eat. The bar staff was a one man show ( not sure how many were in the kitchen). He did a great job in handling food orders and drink orders of about 16 people ( around noon). Our tee time was 12:40 which was on time. The course for this time of year was in good shape. With the lack of rains in '12-'13 many lateral water hazards were all dried up which made it easier to find the ball, but less challenging. It seems if you have water issues you are at least using them in the appropriate areas (ie: greens, fairways, water jugs, and tee boxes). Hats off to all of the crew at Lockeford Springs.
Great value!
I thought the course is well kept. Enjoyed that the course have plenty of cold water stations.
Greens are looking good. Rough is playable . Very good condition overall
Good time was had by all. Course in good shape. Greens a bit slow but improving from last time we played there. Rough was fair , and fairways well maintained
Great green fee from GolfNow!
Course needs more ball washers and more signs from green to next tee boxes. Greens and fairways are well maintained.
This was a great couse we had a good time the course was long from the whites greens were in great shape.
Great course.Greens were excellent condition.Staff was very helpful.

Placement of drives is a must on some holes
The fairways of this course are interspersed throughout the vineyards. Don't hit too many tee shots to the right because the vineyards are always lurking. Let me say from the onset, I had a very nice experience and I will golf this course again. But, there were some things that did not measure up to other courses that I have recently played. The golf carts appeared to be very old and in need of replacement. Most of the seats were torn and many windshields cracked and just taped as a repair solution. I walked approximately 60 yards to get to the practice range. Once on the course, the championship tees were no where to be found and I ended up playing from the blue tees. My partner and I finished the front nine in two hours, but encountered two foursomes that jumped in front of us as we made the turn to the back nine. Inquiry revealed the foursomes
felt there we too many people going off number one and they didn't want to wait. Our back nine turned into three hours of slow play.
Excellent condition
6 months ago heard from friend the course was in bad shape but just played it and found it to be the opposite, fairways groomed and greens excellent. Traps may need some work bit crusty but overall for price, very nice.
Lockeford Springs
Overall experience not. bad I made a mistake as we were to play on the 30th not the 29th. Course officals honored our tee time plus we got a lower rate on green fees saving $13.00 a piece. Carts are not so good. Our first one died at the first tee and the replacement had bald tires. A lot of the carts were in similar condition. When this course first opened it was a first class setting but it appears to be going down hill. Still a nice place to play.
like the course don't like how disjointed the holes are!!
I like the course but it is disjointed. We got lost trying to find the 17th hole. Enjoy the holes but it is a long walk between several of the holes like over a half a mile at a time.
