value & friendly
Always a great pace- great course- always in good shape- employees help anyway possible.
good bargain-greens great--
greens good-a little behind on weed control and mowing the rough
FORGIVING COURSE
Took a friend there with a high handicap due to the fact that this course is very forgiving off the tee and fairway with small rolling hills freaquent on both sides,.. played whole round without losing a single ball actually...
Challenging course, but in poor condition.
The course was haggard and my cart ran out of juice on the 4th hole.
Interesting layout
Played from the blues, this course provides a good challenge for the longer hitters!!
Horrible course
This course is in sad condition. They have really let this go. Never been to a course where the fairways were bare and had huge ruts and debris on every hole. I will never play this course again.
Great course for the money.
Lockford has decent drainage in the winter. Course is in good shape overall greens a little on the slow side but can't beat the value. Friendly staff was able to get out early and play a few extra holes.
Very Enjoyable round of golf
There was a frost delay, we had a 10:20 Tee Time and they still got us out on time. They treated us like they want us to come back and play it again. The pace of play was very good, so we could get into a fun pace that was good for all.
Talk about bang for buck!
My Dad, brother and I played on a Thursday afternoon for an amazingly low $13.70 per player with cart. I got to look benevolent and paid for everyone. Easy peezy, Staff was very friendly and the course was wide open. Well worth the drive from Sacramento. Not the easiest course but that is was makes it fun, right? I will be back for sure.
Great value and nice course!!
Got a great deal for $20 each and course was in a good condition. Not a super hard course for a novice like me but still fun to play. Only my second time playing the course and will be back for sure.
The Price Is Right
The course was a little rough, but it's winter and I know it gets lots of play through the summer months. I expected a long round, based on my experiences in the summer, but to my surprise we found few players on the course. The course can be a little challenging for beginners and for most it's a little off the beaten path, but the green fees make it worth the drive.
Really? Two "Scramble" Groups
Let me start by saying that my group and I used to like this course, but on the Friday after Thanksgiving (which we knew would be a slow day for golf) we had to play behind two foursomes of a Family Scramble. I mean it's a nice idea (letting families play) but who allows a SCRAMBLE in the middle of the day? Worse the marshall (who was friendly) didn't know that scrambles, are by there very nature (having to hunt for the "unused shots" only to return to one spot to wait and hit) a slower way to play. And then to have the marshall get the second scramble group (the group in front of us) back in positon only to be clueless that by the 8th hole the first scramble group was two holes behind...unbeleivable. Just incredible that the course would allow this type of play. Needless to say it was hideous and worse its not like you think to ask that question when you are booking a tee time...."Hey do you have any groups playing in 6 to 7 hours booked in front of us?" So given their lack of understanding we will NOT be returning and its not like a course like this can afford to lose any customers.
Cant go wrong with Lockeford
There is nothing bad to say about lockeford. Course is always in great condition and the stuff is very friendly. If you havent played lockeford your missing out.
Poor scheduling
The staff booked a high school girls golf tourney on 10/16/2012 along with booking regular golf. The ten holes we played took 3.25 hrs. Golfers were leaving the course upset. The staff should have informed all others playing that day there might be delays. I went to the staff and vented my concerns along with another golfer. After not so well recieved advice given to the staff member he did give a nine hole with cart refund with no apologies. I hope they learn from their mistakes and cheerfully admit them. Thank you
Rough around the edges
The Course has a nice design and is reasonably maintained. The greens were heavy and very slow for the end of the summer. Tees were just ok. Fairways in good shape The rest of the facilities are rough around the edges. Driving Range closed, carts are an aging fleet, and the facilites have a "we need attention" feeling to them. Too bad.....
A course worth your time
First, I'm not the best golfer in the world, or claim to be. I do play every weekend though in the Stockton, Lodi, and Sacramento areas. I average mid-80's to low 90's. I would definitely recommend Lockeford Springs to any golfer of any caliber. It can be a bit challenging on some holes, but its golf people its the name of the game. It was well manicured the last couple times I played there, both fairways and greens, and the pace was great for a weekend round. I think my Father and I finished 18 in about 3 1/2-4 hours with another pair in front of us. The cons of this course is they do tend to overcharge. Though the course isn't flat and boring like some of its competitors $55 is still steep for a course of this standard. In my eyes, anything $50 or above you better have some awesome scenery, some fun memorable holes like La Contenta, or Castle Oaks, and a couple of beautiful cart girls. The fact of the matter is I love golf and I think $35-40 is plenty of money for a round at Lockeford. At the end of the day my recommendation is is if the price is right you won't be disappointed with your round at Lockeford Springs.
When in doubt, just hole it.

Over booking and slow play
Had a 1.00 pm tee off and was pushed back to 1.30
because of overbooking. after complaining about not getting 18 holes in. I was told that we still would.
on the 2st tee box, it was stack 4 groups deep and
we waited another 30 mins. and did not get are 18 in.
I would not buy tee times from Golf Now, if I had know
that I would not get my round in.
