Rancho Park Golf Course

Rancho Park is always a fun challenge as it’s such a great layout and you need to hit a variety of quality shots.

The pace of play is usually slow on weekends but this weekday afternoon round was a pleasant surprise at 4 hours.

Course was in good shape overall, but a few tee boxes and fairways could use some help.

Speed of the greens were fine and rolled true.

Overall a great day and looking forward to the next round there!

Greens were completely not the same from hole to hole. Inconsistent is an under-statement! One hole would be firm, another hole would be soft and shaggy, another would be marked with vertical lawnmower cut tracks that had not been rolled smooth, and another would be decent enough - that is, the practice green in front of the first tee was so good, it misleads you into thinking you have to be ready for that extra firm and fast roll-out, but then you get out to the course and it’s almost a disaster.

It had been 5 months since I’d play here, because the last time was such a nightmare I waited. Finally they have fixed most of it, they have watered the course to get the grass growing again. In many parts it’s better, there’s some real rough along the sides and around the greens finally, like it’s supposed to be, like how it was designed to be. But the greens just want to make you cry. They really do. It’s literally every next hole is something different, so just be forewarned!

Some of the tee boxes hadn’t been cut so they were a bit long, like hitting out of light rough.

At least the bunkers mostly looked good, if only people would rake them after their stroke!!

And why don’t people fix ball marks on the greens??? I was bent over most of the day fixing at least a dozen of them all around every green just to make them look respectable. It’s just crazy to me that they walk past all these ball marks and don’t do anything about them. But looking at the disaster that is the country, it is what it is.

Range balls need some serious cleaning. That is just the saddest thing ever. All they would need is some soap in the washer and they can’t even do that.
