St. Marlo Country Club

My playing partner and I arrived at the course for our tee time about an hour before. We checked in with the kid who was the starter for the day and asked him to send us out whenever he had a gap. Turns out he wasn't managing the groups at all. The foursome in front of us turned into 2 group of 2. The single that was in our tee time decided he wanted to play by himself behind us. We ended up starting 10 mins after our official tee time and waited on every hole to hit.

The course was wet but in decent shape from tee to fairway. It needed some grounds under repair in the fairways but with cart path only, was in decent shape. The greens were bumpy with multiple ball marks. They need to be punched and sanded.

Despite paying for 18, we left the course after 9 due to slow play. We won't be returning.

If you are not in a rush, and can work with a 5 hour round plus, then you will enjoy this course. The greens were pretty good. They were not as slow as the pace of play, but they were not fast either. Some rough spots here and there, but overall rolled pretty good. I am playing there again this weekend and hope the rangers can manage the pace of play. I like the course and would recommend you play it if you are considering. The staff was great.

Love the course but while they have starters, it seems the starters are only that. If they have "marshals" they dont use them. You might see someone drive by once a round but they do nothing to improve the pace. You just have t listen to the cart GPS devise tell you that you are behind. If you are waiting on every shot, please dont ask me to speed up. Use your marshals to figure out where the issue is and fix it. ALWAYS slow here!

Overall, a good venue. The first 6 holes or so that pace of play was good. The course conditions were also good. However, we started getting slowed down by the groups in front. Too bad, the round was going well.

For many years, St. Marlo was a permanent fixture in my golf course rotation. After several disappointing rounds, where I was dissatisfied with the course conditions and slow play, I stopped playing it and it fell out if my rotation.

After my last round, I can say St. Marlo is back and better than I remembered it. I don’t ever remember the course brining in better shape. Greens were excellent and in great condition.

I can say I can’t wait to play it again.

Sand traps were in terrible condition; some were unplayable. Otherwise, course is in pretty good shape; greens were slow.

Great layout. Bunkers need work and greens are in bad shape. divots everywhere. 60 dollars is fair.

Interesting course. Very friendly. No waiting. Course in very good summer conditions. Would play again.
