Goat Hill Park
About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

Fun challenging course
Fun layout, challenging course. Good pace of play (finished in 4 hours). They were resodding a good chunk of the course, so it will probably be in great condition in late October. Greens are great though.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Goat Hill Park.
Deaster
Worst course ever played . From hill to hill, many bald spots hit onto dirt. No course directions . Not for beginners.not worth the price, would not play for free.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Fun short course- tough on glutes
Walked and carried, played from black tees. Creative layout with forced carries, elevation changes, a shared green, and small green targets. Tests long iron tee shots and wedge game. Greens are in good condition, but some tee boxes are beaten up. Be sure to grab a "local guide" for how to approach the hole. I used it for reference on all of the par 4s. Do not use pull/push cart- course is too hilly for that. Walk or ride.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Goat Hill Park thanks you!
Good exercise walking good condition on greens
Extremely hilly layout, fun challenging course. Greens are in good shape. Glad to finally check it out after years of hearing about the Goat. Staff was friendly and pace of play was pretty good. Plays longer than the distance on the card...some narrow tee shots and doglegs...but still plenty of wedges in on the par fours.
Thank you for your review! We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Goat Hill Park. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
If you want to loose golf balls play here
Way too compact ! It’s beyond hilly. Dogs on the golf course! REALLY? I can understand support dogs IF they are properly trained but this was not a support dog.! Several Tee’s closed or mini Tee’s not placed, mats just laying around. Pace VERY slow. If you want to loose golf balls because you can’t tell where your green is this is where you want to play. Furthermore being on sale but having to pay $16 per seat in a golf court which puts you at $100 at the worst time of day for this golf course is absolutely ridiculous. We have played much better golf courses for less money!

Tha Ghoat!
The course has come a long way. I played this course throughout the years and have watched it get better and then go the other way. Recently the new owner has done wonders to make this course more enjoyable, and continues to improve all the time. Thank You!
We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Goat Hill Park!
Goat Hill is just that
Goat Hill was very run down and the fairways were in bad shape. They ran a frisbee golf tournament at same time golf so you needed to be waiting on those players as well. Also no carts available as they were reserved for the frisbee tournament. There is no dress code so shirtless intoxicated participants was clearly acceptable. Do avoid this course !

Great course
The course was awesome. But there was a lot of work being done on the course and the workers, tractors and other equipment were constantly in our way. They did not make any effort to move out of our way. that was frustrating. But the course was awesome, the greens were perfect and other than the work on the course, we thoroughly enjoyed the course!

Would be 0 star if I could
Extremely disappointing course
I played the first 4 holes
Couldn’t handle how terrible the conditions of the course are so I went to get a refund and they were rude and disrespectful
I tried to be polite but they would have none of it and tried to argue with me and offered no customer service.
Would give them 0 stars if I could
The Goat!
Goat Hill has an interesting layout with quite a few elevation changes. While it was not known for the quality of it's fairways in the past, there has been a dramatic effort to improve the overall course. It's a fun and somewhat challenging course!

June Bug Central
Played Goat Hill Park with my wife on our honeymoon. I must say the course was in rough shape. If you aren’t a fan of large flying insects then I would avoid this course. I think every June bug in California resides in the bushes located on the course. Enough to make it distracting while trying to hit your ball. Fairways were choppy, overgrown to the point of resembling rough, overall just not in good condition. If it weren’t for the great views the course wouldn’t be worth more than 15 bucks. On a positive note the course was a challenge and made for playing a tough round of 18 holes. Will definitely be taking our clubs elsewhere next time we are in Oceanside.

Golf now
It’s cheaper to book through the course then golf now. I went to the course and golf now didn’t tell the course I had a cart so I had to pay for double carts. Golf now is impossible to get a hold of
Why would I call the help line. You guys went customer support only. This is my point exactly you don’t even know the help line is no longer customer support!!!!

Fun little track
Enjoyed the course. Short, but good to work on your short game. Greens were nice, fairways very rough and need work. For the price it is very good. I would play again.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
Not worth the drive
Putting into consideration COVID conditions I may be being a bit harsh, but....
I've lived in Temecula for six years and have played many courses from from LA to San Diego. I have read some reviews that were relatively good and have even had this course recommended by a friend. The group that I normally play with likes the earlier Tee Times, which we were able to get, but I was disappointed that the Practice Range was not opened early enough for the early Tee Times to take advantage of. Also, the restaurant was closed, which is not the case at any of the other courses I play. Being the first time any of my group had played this course, it was difficult to follow the layout. The Tee boxes and fairways were in poor to fair conditions, but the greens and areas around the greens were in very good shape. The pace of play could have been a bit better. We found ourselves waiting on most of the Tee boxes and for several approach shots. The staff was seemingly friendly. All in all, not my worst experience on a golf course, but wasn't worth the drive and I won't be playing there again.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Goat Hill Park. We hope to see you again in the future.
Ok course, could be in better condition and could have more distance markers throughout the course on the holes...had to guess my distance on a lot of shots. Finished 18 in under 4 hours, only had to wait for the group in front of us a couple of times during the round. For the money, I’d play a longer course that’s in better condition.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting us!
