Goat Hill Park
About
Located in Oceanside, Goat Hill Park originally opened in 1952 as a nine-hole course called Center City Golf Course. It was the first golf course in San Diego County and in the 1980s was designated as protected public land that cannot be developed without a public vote. The course was redesigned in the 1990s into an 18-hole short course and soon became known by locals as "Goat Hill." The course was threatened by development in 2014 but the local community fought the plans at city hall and a new management team led by local residents John Ashworth, David Emerick and Geoff Cunningham assumed management of the golf course. Using volunteer corps of tradesman and citizens along with dedicated staff, they renovated and revitalized Goat Hill to its current state. The course features one par 5 on its par-65 layout and features long views from its perch on a hill. It also has a full driving range, pro shop as well as disc golf interwoven into the layout.

True test
For the average golfer, great challenge..
No easy holes, everything falls off somewhere...
Really Fun to Play
My wife and I played here last Friday for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. If you’re looking for tour distance, play elsewhere. If you’re looking to problem-solve and have fun, this is your place. The elevated tees and/or greens give you plenty to think about. Not much water to worry about but plenty of hazards and out of bounds areas to make you second guess your club choice - which we loved!! Rolling, crested greens so you have to avoid going too long or two short (a couple of short putts rolled back to my feet and a couple of long ones required a wedge to chip back on.
Staff is super friendly. Clubhouse is well stocked. Love the golf carts.
This is our new favorite course.
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Goat Hill Park.
A Very Unique Place
Every time I play here which is turning into once a week I leave here saying to myself what a cool and relaxing course to play and always look forward to coming back. Pace of play is always good, course is getting into better shape all the time, and with the elevations and thick grass in some locations make it for a challenging but fun time.
Thank you for your review! We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Goat Hill Park. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
First Visit to Local Legend
After seeing all the hype on social media, I finally made the trek from Pacific Beach to Oceanside to play this track. After bumping into a few locals and putting around, I played quite an enjoyable round. The greens are easily the best feature on this course, with many of them in fantastic shape and will eat you alive if you're not careful. You can tell that a lot of love and care is going into this place. Fairways and rough were well...rough, but it seems to be trending in the right direction with almost every divot filled with sand. Can't wait to see what this course is like in a year.
Thank you for taking the time to review us! Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Goat Hill Park thanks you!
Very fun course
Had a blast out here. Got out around 6:40 and had no one in front or behind us. The elevation changes are crazy and the greens are tiny and pretty tricky but I’m great shape. Only a par 65 but still has some holes to let it rip on. Really enjoyed this course and will be back soon.

Love The GOAT!
Pros: Great course layout. Really fun with lots of elevated shots. They have 3 putting/chipping greens and a driving range for practice. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. Good pace of play. Friendly staff and greenskeepers. They are always working on the grounds and improving this already well kept golf course. Goat Hill is also very easy to get to (just off the 5 freeway) and is generally a cooler location in terms of weather since it is nearer the coast than most other courses.
Cons: A little overpriced. It's generally $50ish to play here with a cart and you could find a good Par 72 a little further inland for the same price. Their driving range is a little beat up. Although you hit off grass, there is a lot of sand underneath and it is hard not to stand in divots and holes. That being said, they just began renovations on the driving range and though it will be closed from Oct-Dec, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.
Overall: 8.5/10

Don’t waste your money
Dud of a course. Lousy tee boxes and spotty fairways. The greens are nice though.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Goat Hill Park. We hope to see you again in the future.
Yardage markers?
Unfortunately my GPS did not recognize the course, so we hunted for yardage markers. Unfortunately those were few and far between. Since the course is hilly, it became somewhat difficult to guesstimate distances. So... we were disappointed with our results. The heat didn't help, but that's on Mother Nature. I don't know why Garmin doesn't have the course updated. The GPS had the old course name (Center City) and what appeared to be the old course tee to green distances. I would have expect that after a few years this information would have been corrected. Alas it was not to be.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Goat Hill Park.

Just odd
Course layout was odd. To get to six, you have to pass about 4 other holes. A couple tee boxes were plastic mat. Was not really worth the money. Maybe when they finish all the upgrades.

Great location needs more grass
I play here frequently. Most of the time there are plenty of t times available. There are many areas where they need to add grass. Lots of dirt. Course layout can be confusing for first timers.
All in all a good bang for the buck but the course needs some TLC. Greens 6/10
Staff is always very friendly.
