My Kingdom for a Marshall
This course needs work and a Marshall. You can see they're trying and the staff is real nice, but around 14 when our cart started dying, making the already slow day, even slower. The price is lower than most, the pace is brutal and then there's the waste treatment facility coming down stretch... At least the sun was out.
Very friendly staff
Course fairways a bit beat up. Greens were quick and got the better of me…..this time. Next time hoping for better outcome. Some greens seemed smaller than my home putting green. Especially hole 17. Staff was great. Nice to see grass practice range. Very affordable. Wish I lived closer.
Review from 3 handicapper
I was desperate to golf and it was 8 pm scrolling thru GolfNow. Saw a 10 am tee time the following day and booked it without hesitation. Made my buddy drive from Long Beach to Ontario. Here’s the deal: The course is garbage, full-stop. Move on if you want something nice or interesting. Anyone who says this course is “okay” or “could be better” or “needs some attention” are all understating how trash this course is and most likely they are high handicappers who haven’t really played a variety of courses in their lives. Every hole here is dead straight except three holes (4,9 & 12) so the course lacks any imagination. I guess the best way of determining if you are in the fairway or rough is that once you are in the rough, you’re pretty much in a bunker cause sand is everywhere. Almost every green is about 12 steps wide and 18 steps deep; basically if you hit any part of the green you have a make-able putt. Greens are in pretty decent shape. Bunkers have a lovely soft dirt in them that maybe one day will become sand, but it beats playing out of hardpan. The ninth and 12th hole are the only holes that make you play any sort of interesting shot. Our Sunday round took just over 5 hours. Only 4somes went out and we waiting about 5-8 mins on every tee. Also, I am not sure if this is a daily occurrence, but the course is across the street from some farm that either processes manure or had just laid it down because you could taste it on the course. There were also a lot of flies. On the par 3 16th which has the green closest to the farm, the entire green was covered in flies, as well as my ball. None of this is a complaint, these are facts. For $38 dollars w/cart in SoCal this is what thou shalt expect.
Paid $11 to play 9 holes on a Mon AM, can't complain about that! That's a great value no matter what the course conditions!
Staff were very accommodating to allow us to tee off earlier than our scheduled tee time.
Very walkable, pretty much flat course. We saw probably half or more of the golfers walking and it looks like they've got a good local following. Layout is your normal tree-lined muni course. Greens relatively small, some like postage stamps, so GIRs can be challenging.
Fairways were damp and muddy so we played lift clean and place.
The course is like 10 minutes from Ontario Airport so great proximity to play and catch a flight. I would not go out of my way to play here again but for the value would welcome it.
The course is a good value
A great course for the price.greens are pretty flat & consistent. Good fun round.
Could be better
I have played here several times and never really have had any complaints. Yesterday was no different, except for the fact that I noticed for the first time that the fairways are in rough shape. Very patchy quite a few"holes" not created by people not filling in their divots. It's no fun to put a drive right in the middle of the fairway and be penalized with a bad lie. Otherwise it was a good day, bunkers in great shape, greens rolled smoothly, and very little water on the course despite all the recent rain.
Awesome staff
Great value and course was in good condition. Greg was super friendly and accomodating. Definitely recommend playing there
A “fair” course
This course is just “fair.” I’m not bad mouthing it, I’m just stating that I believe it to be an “average” course. The fairways are wide while the greens were the best thing about this course. The putting greens are really taken care of. But there’s nothing really special about this “vanilla” of a course. It is loud at some holes due to the close freeway traffic noise adjacent to the course. This is an old course that could use a better facelift. I was told that the city of Ontario has really cleaned up the course by putting some money into it, namely some mobile home style office and pro shop. But it still needs more work. The old clubhouse was torn out years ago and that has really taken the course’s overall appearance down. The course itself is just too flat like a swap meet converted into a golf course. Even the greens are all pretty much flat. Where’s the challenge?
This is really a “cargo shorts, Tank top and flip-flop” (if it were allowed) kinda of course in my opinion. I could see them making the movie “Tin Cup 2” here with Keven Costner’s character living in a an old Ford Pinto in the parking lot. Would I recommend this course? Maybe. I thought the weekend price was way too high for what this course is. It’s not a course that’s very pleasing to the eye with neat scenery, layout and many trees etc... but in a pinch and when all other courses are packed with people.... sure, I’d say it’s better than nothing in that case.
