El Prado Golf Courses - Chino Creek
About
El Prado Golf Course in Chino offers two 18-hole courses, Chino creek and Butterfield Stage. Chino Creek is the longer of the two at 6,858 yards from the back tees. It is also considered more challenging but both are player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. As its name would imply, the Chino Creek runs along the entire length of the golf course. You find water in several different forms throughout the course including lakes and meandering streams. The layout is spread across rolling terrain with elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Several of the holes begin from elevated tees and it's likely you'll face more than one uphill battle. Trees and bunkers also come into play but the fairways are wide and forgiving. It's not an overly difficult golf course but beginners can also try the shorter and less challenging Butterfield Stage Course.

Ver poor sand traps
I hope the course manager is in the process of changing the sand traps. They are rock hard and impossible to get the club under the ball. A few inches of new sand is needed.
They are putting money into the course and boy does it show
I played this course over 100 times between 2002 and 2023. I have never seen it in anything remotely close to this nice of condition. The green fees have gone up (like everywhere else) but you are getting value for that difference in price. In my opinion they are getting very close to Los Serranos and at a lower price.
Decent Layout and Greens are Fast
Decent Layout and greens are rolling true. The course is in need of maintenance, the rough, the bathrooms and pace of play. Point of reference, I played on a Tuesday at 12:30pm, shouldn't have taken 5hrs to finish a round, we waited on every tee box.
Same problems as 30yrs ago. Dirt paths, dinged up greens and the worst bathrooms on a course ever.
How this place has not fixed any of these issues is perplexing. When u leave tee box on #2 there is a sinkhole thats been there at least a few yrs..
Money over maitenance.
Course Looking Good.
There have been improvements done and in progress to course and looking good. Wish they would put Marshals on the course as pace of play has been horrible the last couple of times out. Course conditions were actually pretty good compared to the pass.
Horrible Course and Never Recommending
Every time I book a tee time here, we show up to the course and they always pull something on us.
This weekend, they advertised the round as being 18 holes and full weekend pricing. When we arrived, we were surprised by the sign on the door - “Walking Only and 9 holes only”
I’m completely fine with walking but having us book for 18 holes and only allowing 9 holes is completely deceitful. They would allow us to schedule another tee time to play the 9 holes again but this should never be advertised as 18 holes because by that time, there were no other course to go to.
A few months prior, they had a scheduled junior tournament in front of us so our tee time was moved back by an hour and 10 minutes.
If they would warn golfers that these things are happening, then it would be fine but they don’t and they wait for you to get there to find out.
After playing this course many times before, they have become worse and will avoid spending money here again/never recommend to other golfers.
Backed up
Started at 1230 and finished hole 15 at 500. The only reason why we even made it to 15 was some people ahead of us chose to go back to the front nine instead of slogging through the wait. There were four groups lined up at two holes in particular. They just overbooked, and it was ridiculous.
Busy Busy
Not friendly Starter, also deleyed 25min start first hole, .waiting every holes. Play 4hour finished at #12
Chino Slow Creep
Very slow pace of play and the tea boxes weren’t in great shape. I would rather play Butterfield for PACE of play and I don’t think I will play Chino Creek again.
