Greens are in great shape
I’ve played this course many times over the years & the greens are in the best shape ever!
Thank you maintenance staff
I came back to play Sharp Park after moving out our the area 6 months ago, and I just wanted to write a note to say thank you to the course staff for putting some much needed TLC into the greens and the course overall.
Most of the greens are rolling true, and the expansion of the 18th green complex is great. The tee box build on 6 is looking beautiful. It looks like some other greens are being expanded, too, and the collars are looking crisper than they ever had.
This was the first time I’ve ever seen multiple course Marshalls during a round, too.
I’ll be back and looking forward to seeing what other improvements are up next. Ps please replace the push carts with clicgear ones (like they have at gleneagles).
Cheap for a reason
Tee boxes are slanted, muddy, bare, etc. fairways are littered with white flowers and the grass is below average. Greens are super slow but atleast have plenty of grass. You get what you pay for here
Things can improve
This course is an average , more or less flat topography and not very demanding.
Condition of the fairways and many places needs attention. Some places the grass is dried/ missing.
The greens are on the slower side but generally well maintained.
Overall good place for average players.
Fortunately the wind is not strong at this place which makes playing little easier.
Course is in a beautiful area with nice features
Course is moderate in distance. Used Driver a lot. Fairways are mostly wide but sometimes teeboxes are way to close to greens. Almost get hit a few times. Greens are good conditions. Some fairways play like light rough. Cypress trees are beautiful and are throughout entire course. No golf shop. Decent bar staff. No places to clean ball at any teebox. Muni course so there was some noise from people blasting music and bystanders: Greens are moderately tough but clean. Nice practice green before hole one. Views are beautiful. I would say 3.5/5. Great place to clear mind, use all clubs and difficultly is low moderate
CLASSIC MACKENZIE
great bargain from the old master despite the fact that there is an expected amount of muni course deferred maintenance
love jr
Good course fairways weren't cut
Lots of white flowers in fairway so forced to play a colored ball. Nice layout and decent pace of play. Greens were still recovering from aeration and sanding. Would like to play again when in better shape.
Not very accommodating to visitors
Was here on vacation and was excited to play Sharp Park. I called early to make sure they rented clubs and was told they did. When I show up for my tee time the attendant tells me they don’t rent them out past 2pm and the lady I spoke to “doesn’t know what she’s talking about”. I left work early, made plans to get to the course and walked away with nothing but a disappointed. Real bummer.
Old and Needs Maintenance
I played this course because it was designed by McKenzie and its "on the ocean" . But the ocean is blocked by a levee and there are no ocean views. The course is in sad shape generally although the greens are better than the fairways for sure.
Lay out
Nice layout, beautiful setting and lots of different type of challenges
Pleasantly surprised
The genius of Allister McKenzie still resonates at Sharp Park. This course is tough, but fair and very enjoyable. There’s no “gotcha” greens or bunkers that are typical of courses built in the last 40 years. Merely a thoughtful test of a golfer’s strategy and skill. Are the greens and tee boxes immaculate? Of course not. But they are playable and the staff should be commended for maintaining this course with the limited budget they have. Will definitely be coming back!
