Don’t take a cart - everyone walks this course. You got to if you want to savor this Alistair Mackenzie gem.
Shades of Cypress Point with this place - you’ll want to come back again and again…
Improvement
It’s been awhile since playing my home course do to to very poor conditions . Not a place to play during the winter months . Great layout . For the most part a very playable course. Greens decent . Fairways not bad compared to past visits . Will come back during summer but price could be less.
The course doesn't have enough carts.
I have a bad ankle and walking the course is very painful. I got there at 8:45 for a 9:30 tee time and they didn't have any carts left.
Good Round
This time we didn’t have to wait too long for a cart, only about 45min past our tee time.
The fairways have dried out and they have now been able to mow and clear all the mulch, some of the rough is still a bit deep but they’re getting to it! The greens are pretty good now but a little fast
They Need More Carts!
I only gave 2 Stars for this round due to the cart issue, all else is fine.
My Tee Time was 11am, they had no carts and I opted to wait for one. Didn’t get out till 1:30pm and couldn’t finish my game due to a meeting later that day.
They are in the process of building a new cart house which perhaps means more carts are coming but for now, we need more!
Getting Better
This is my home course, I try to play it one or more times a week. They are constructing a new cart house but it’s not ready and they very badly need more carts! The rentals they have have broken down, so they are already down the few they had. It’s a long course and walking is out of the question for me.
On the positive they are doing great things in repairing the grounds from the storms and fixing the damaged cart paths. I just wish they’d carry Blue Moon :)
Second time is the charm
We had played here in January and it was unplayable and under water, but they didn’t tell us. This time was much better.
Fair weather for golfing...
Walking with my pull golf cart for 18 holes. Paired with an awe3some family golfing. Fairways and greens were great Highlights, 3ft birdie put at the par 3 5th. 15ft eagle put at the par 5 9th, ended up with a tap birdie. These were the rewards that made my day. Overall, it was a very nice day for golf. I haven't played this course since before covid. It looks a lot better. I will play this course again.
Getting Better
Now that the rains have slowed the course is drying out and they can mow more often on the fairways. There are some still very bad trenches left on 6, 10, and 12 but getting better.
Another great thing is I was happy to see they are repairing some of the bad cart paths and repaving them.
They just need more Carts! Hopefully when the new cart house is completed they’ll get more.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.
Do not waste your time or money at this course.
Figured i’d give it a chance because how bad could a course next to the ocean be?
Older Asian guy at the pro shop is noy helpful, useless, provides terrible customer service and offers no help.
Called in on 5/2 to book a tee time for 5/3 @ 4pm. Received a confirmation email with the tee time and date.
Show up to the course on 5/3 @ 3:30 to check in, the pro shop worker says the tee time is not there and that the number i called (+1 (650) 359-3380) LISTED ON THE WEBSITE is a call center and did not book the tee time?
No resolution is offered.
My advice: avoid the course, from other reviews it appears that this is the norm and not an exception. If you must play this course, book the tee time in person.
Your money deserves to go to a course that respects you.
Getting Better
This is my home course. I only gave it less than 5 stars because the greens are still not completely dried out and some areas are still very muddy and not accessible.
However I played one week prior and they conditions were worse! Now a lot of the fairways have been mowed but have to much mulch left that makes it hard to swing through, but definitely getting better! ,
Distinctive course
First time at Sharp Park which reflects the old style of golf with beautiful Cypress trees, ocean breeze and fairness if in fairways....the only reason for the fair rating was the course conditions, lots of standing water and the greens had been plugged two weeks prior? and need some attention.....staff is great, and the history is a plus.....
A fun place to enjoy all the elements
Club challenge greens. All pins are in.
Several fairways need more drying out but your ball can carry longer if you aim in correct direction.
Come play.
Still Not Ready
Due to the recent rains, and continued bad weather the course is still not dried out, this presents many issues as not only are their muddy wet areas, they cannot mow either because they cannot gain access. Also the rains are damaging the concrete cart paths. #6 and #13 were really bad.
Last year it took months so I’m guessing if the rains stop maybe mid to late summer will be good and back to normal.
Sharp Park
The course lay out is wonderful. The major problem is maintenance. They do not mow fairways on front 9 so impossible to quickly, if at all, to find your ball. Too many daisy’s and long grass on fairways which slows pace and increases frustration!
If that improved it would be a wonderful course
