Not very enjoyable
Expect to step in the mud and lose several balls in the un-trimmed fairways and large puddles. It's a shame that I like the course. Despite not raining for a couple of days I'd expect the conditions to be much better, but it was worse.
Golf Lagoon
The course was unmowed and often under water. We would not have played if we were told ahead of time. Worst drained course ever played. Won’t be playable for months. Should close and refund my green fees.
Don't play Sharp Park right now
I love Sharp Park, and I want to see it someday realize its full potential. Unfortunately, my golf group of 8 guys made the mistake of booking two Saturday tee times without checking out the recent GolfPass reviews. It was the wettest, muddiest course I've ever played. Virtually everyone in our group ruined a pair of golf shoes, pants or both. Surprisingly the back nine holes weren't that wet. The fairways of the front nine, especially those across the street, were mosh pits. Everyone would lose plugged balls hit right down the middle. With the winter we're having, it's wise to call before you book and ask for honest answers about the conditions. The pro shop gave us the resident rate at $45, $20 off, but it was so unplayable that no golfers should be sent out in those conditions. It's harmful to the golf ocurse. I will give Sharp Park another chance when there's an extended dry stretch, but it's going to take a while to get things back to playability.
Not a place to play after rain
Arrived at course and was told they were charging SF rates only ($39 vs. $57) cart path only and no rain checks. Course probably should have been closed as it was extremely wet and muddy. Between the two of us we probably lost 20 balls in the fairway which were not mowed in quite a while and the ball would be buried in the mud and unable to find.
bad course condition
i don't understand terrible course condition. almost fairway and rough drain badly.
Unexpected hazards
The course off the tee was excellent. The tee boxes were in decent shape. The first 4 holes were pretty good. The 5th I think is a par 3, the tee box was a bit of a mound so it was a little hard to find a good spot to tee off from. The rest were fine until you got to the 13th hole. From there, the course has some serious drainage problems. After bombing a drive into the fairway, I couldn't find my ball but I did find 3 others, all sucked into the fairway. On the 16th and 17th hole, any drive in the fairway had a chance to land or roll into a unintended pond of water. So in all honesty, play this course after a dry spell because if its rained within the last 30 days or so, I wouldn't recommend it.
Great Course
This is my home course and we play at least once a week. It’s one of the harder courses but that why we choose to play it.
Rude staff
The staff is so rude. Refused to give carts even we showed the reservation which was included carts, and insisted it is GolfNow’s problem, we have no choice to pay $20 cart fee per person.
Never see this kind rude staff,
Great staff, amazing views
It was amazing to play an Alister MacKenzie course with such a beautiful backdrop. Very good bang for your buck, and the final holes are breathtaking. The on-course marshall Lora even went out of her way to go look for my wedge I left a couple holes behind me. I will certainly play here again.
So much potential
This is a really beautiful course setting with the potential to be great but the fairways, rough, etc is not maintained in
any meaningful way. Just a little bit of an investment would
create a top level experience.
Staff refused to honor golf now reservations
The golf now reservation clearly stated “with cart “ and there was a cart fee on the reservation at 2:30pm.
That is why we reserved there. The staff checking us in said that the reservation did not include a cart. I showed him the reservation on my phone with the cart included information. He still said he would not include a cart. After arguing with him for 10 minutes and continuing to insist, he finally relented a gave us a cart. But he said that we had to have back by 6pm. With a 2:30 tee off that was only 3and 1/2 hours. So we played the round angered and rushed. Golf now is still offering hot deals with a cart in the afternoon at this course. Someone needs to inform the sharp park staff.
Thanks
Fun Course for the $
If the course had a bigger maintenance budget it would be amazing
