Good experieince. Carts could be better equipped with ball washer and gps monitor
What has happened to Management??
Superintendent has decided no chipping at the two large practice greens, allowing only the third, tiny green next to first tee be used for chipping practice . WHY?? No one could answer so all staff defer to this indefensible decision to disallow chipping practice at either large practice areas installed by the course designers specifically for-that’s right-CHIPPING PRACTICE!!
Terrible management decision that will take this great practice then play course out of my list of favorite places…for decades I’ve played here, always chipping practice going on by many, never any over turf damage or misuse…. Now it’s no longer??!
Sad…what’s next? Eliminate practice putting to save$$??
Slooooooooooow
Hard to play good when you have to wait on EVERY shot. Not sure what the answer is. Awful lot of slow play everywhere. Are these courses just booking times too close together? Trying to squeeze every penny out of us?
Slow Play
Great course but no staff to push pace of play or even someone to push start time. Slow, slow, slow pace. 3 hours to play a front 9. I didn’t finish as I can’t wait on tee box for more than 15 minutes.
The Vinyard
Everything was excellent, until we ordered a club sandwich, about 12:15, while on hole nine from the snack bar. The gal took the order, when we got to snack bar, she said cook was on a break and didn't make the food. You are losing money!
Pace of Play
terrible pace of play. groups in front were not playing ready golf. took almost 5 hours to finish 18 holes.
The Vinyard, Escondido
Good deal with Golfpass/Golfnow. Seems they've done some much needed work on front 9 bunkers...but back nine still need attention.
It was nice to play a course with grass on the fairways, bunkers need some attention but the tees & greens were well kept.
Good back up plan
Course is a good B course. Not first tier but good second tier. Sand traps are terrible. No distance markers. No GPS on carts Greens are good. Fairways ok Nice mix of holes.
Needs work!
There were a couple of fairways where it was just dirt. Some of the tee boxes were in bad shape and all of the traps were trash. The last time I played this course was right after they reopened post Covid, and the course hasn’t improved much.
Just a hair mire
Staff: top notch. Very accommodating.
Greens: smooth and truly deceptive. The break you think you see, yeah, you don’t.
Amenities: meh. Limited snack bar menu and staff. Don’t come here expecting to dine.
Fairways: for the most part trimmed and green. A few barren spots with tight lies but otherwise not bad.
Bunkers: pull it out and drop. The condition of these bunkers are a major cause of concern. Hard..I mean HARD, Compacted DIRT. Not a true measure of bunker play. At the very least they should punch em up and give them some form of a sandy feel. Or, add some sand. Worst part of our experience.
Pace of play: not bad for a Saturday. Patience is key because, well, weekend.
Overall: not bad. That being said, not quite worth the Saturday cost of $76.00.
