Mt. Woodson Golf Club
About
Mt. Woodson Golf Club is one of San Diego County's most popular courses for a number of reasons, one being the spectacular setting. Nestled in the Ramona Valley, the course is sprawls across a dramatic landscape of towering oak trees, enormous granite boulders, and sparkling blue lakes. Nearly every hole on the golf course provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains and canyons. It is also known for being one of the most challenging and well maintained layouts in the area. The tight fairways and small greens demand accuracy. There are also plenty of interesting elevation changes throughout. The golf course offers true target-style golf that will test the shot-making abilities of even the most experienced players. One of the most unique features of the course is the 450-foot wooden bridge that winds through the treetops.

Fun day
I love this course. In great shape with the exception of the tee boxes. Greens are in great shape but they were slow. Would love to see them fast and firm like they have been in the past.
Challenging short course
Great views, fun course. This short-ish course is especially challenging first time played. Lots of blind shots and narrow fairways to figure out. Conditions were good in mid June. Greens are small, oddly shaped and tough to read. I’d play it again now that I have confidence in shot requirements and course management. It’s a fun track.
Only criticism is of the Starter’s decision to make me wait for more than 45 min for my 1:20 tee time. I arrived early for the round, playing solo. Hit balls in the super small but serviceable driving net area and then told the starter that I’m available if he needs me to fill out a 3-some or 2-some before my tee time. I like to help keep pace of play, ya know. He ignored me, and then, over the next 45minutes, sent out several groups of 3 and groups of 2. Of course when I finally went off with a perfectly pleasant husband/wife couple, we waited on every hole for up to 5 min each. Made for an unnecessarily long 5+ hour round.
I propose a new rule for all Starters out there: Your tee sheet is a suggested start time only. Your bigger concern is what’s going on on hole #2. If there’s a delay on 2, gently delay the 1st hole start, because it’s easier on all of us to wait on the first tee for a few extra minutes than it is to end up standing around all day long on holes 2-18. Your second concern, Starter, is to make sure the train keeps a rolling out there. Communicate with your roving marshals; help them to move slower groups along. Pace of play: It’s your only job, bro.
Thank you
Love the bridge
Haven’t played this track in 15 years and it is still one of the best courses for views and oak trees.
Matt driving range into the nets but only $5.00 for med bucket.
Greens were a little slow but great color and super fun. Can’t wait to go back and shoot better then 88
Awesome course
Yesterday was my first time playing Mt. Woodson and it is now one of my San Diego favorites. This course will reward accuracy and the views/elevation changes are safe really striking. Fortunately this course is only 30 minutes from my house so I will definitely make this one of my SD golf staples.
Course and greens in great shape. Greens were a little slow but healthy. Tee boxes need to probably be leveled and resodded. Fun course and a hidden gem for sure
Nice course
The course was a lot of fun. Challenging,
Hilly, but fun. I would recommend.
Conditions are great right now.
The course was in great condition. Pace of play was good. 18 in 4 hours and 15 minutes. The staff were great. The putting green is now in a bit of a weird spot but it works. The practice area was a bit dangerous as we had a couple shots land by us with no warning. Overall awesome day out and will be back.
Mt. Woodson
Green fees too much, if you get golf now, course won't let you out early, even when nobody is teeing off for 30 plus minutes.
Little Gem!
Couldn’t have had a better day out golfing in SD, especially for a Friday. Course was in great condition, pace of play was fantastic, tucked away in the hills near Ramona so some great views, golf carts have touchscreen GPS that provide accurate distances, beverage cart came around quickly, and staff was very welcoming. This is my new go-to course for sure.
Amazing condition
The starter said the course was in great shape, but we wanted to see for ourselves. WOW, the course was in amazing shape & great for the price. 10/10 Will be back soon.
Great Course
Great course challenging holes. Staff was amazing. Definitely going to get out again soon!
An amazing place to play
I first played here 30 years ago, then moved away from the area for a while…..but I’ve been back for 20 years and am bummed it’s my first time back. Took my wife here for her birthday and we loved it. Such a hard target course, but it’s like golf Disneyland. A cart bridge that takes a couple minutes to cross. Views of the mountains and valleys galore. I’ll be back very consistently from here on. A true gem in San Diego. If you’ve ever played Emerald Canyon in Parker Arizona you’d think this is a sister course. Every employee interaction from checking in to the end was very pleasant! Thanks for making my wife’s birthday special….and she parred 18!!
