Par 70
This course is a par 70 with only 1 par 5 but to be honest you wouldn’t notice if it was written on the score card and we played from the whites. Had a great time at this course and would definitely come back and recommend to friends.
Buggy
Didn’t like having to park carts 50 yds from green. Greens were a lot slower than anywhere have played
Okay course but the price is ridiculous
Let me start at the positive: as a local course I appreciate it accessibility as well as available teatime. However, the price at $90 on a Sunday morning is ridiculous. There is no way to justify that being value for your money. Also, the green on hole five should be closed and repaired. Otherwise, the course is fine and I would definitely return but a lot less frequently.
Price doesn’t match the value
We were delayed teeing off by 15 mins bc of a group ahead that was late. At the ninth hole we were harassed to play faster and then when we arrived at 10 we waited on the group ahead for 10 mins to tee off. So this was annoying. There were flies everywhere, especially on the back nine. It was annoying while teeing off, flies buzzing around our face. Not worth the price.
Bunkers need to be redone
Course was relatively in a good condition. But all the bunkers were terrible; they are basically packed down sand mud. They need to do a better job maintaining bunkers or redo bunkers.
CS
greens were very slow; as was pace of play today
course was otherwise in good condition
Nice layout but conditions are poor
This course has a nice layout, but the conditions are poor. Many areas with just dirt and no grass. Also had one green that was about 50% burnt out.
Hole 5 green is a mess but
Aside from the 5th green, it was good. They are reshaping the 6th to make it more strategic and putting algaecide in the ponds (lost balls should be visible soon).
It was breezy but good. Took about 4.5 hrs (maybe less)
Challenging but manageable
I last played The Vineyard about 25 years ago, so I didn't remember much about the course. I found it to be a good challenge with accuracy off the tee pretty important. Although it isn't too narrow, you can get into tree trouble or OB if you lose a ball right or left. From the blues, it wasn't real long for me. I'm 59 and average around 240 on my drives. A couple holes had longer shots in due to wind or uphill drives that didn't carry long enough. The greens were a bit slow and approaches stuck and didn't roll out much. The course was in good shape with a few brown patches in some fairways. The views are great. All in all, I would recommend the course. For $91 it was a reasonable good value compared to other courses around San Diego.
Great San Diego GC
Always fun playing a round at Vineyard. Good company and great for the price. I will go again.
