Brian
Liked the course. The fairways were painted green so it looked more lush than I’m sure it was. But nonetheless the grass seemed healthy and very playable which puzzled me why they’re painting it.
Golfnow
I was charged for 3 people because two of my friends couldn’t make it. But they filled the spots with singles. Since the spots were filled I don’t think I should be charged.
Good round
Course was in average condition. Expected it to be a little better considering the weather we have been having. Greens in the morning were not dew-swept or mowed, so they were a bit inconsistent until they evaporated after an hour or so. Some lies in the fairway were not on anything that looked like grass - mostly dirt, or wayyyyy over watered and muddy.
Still the experience was good+. Just expected a little more.
Driving range was finally open, and you could purchase balls. They even had us on the grass (not mats) portion.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Worth the price charged for a senior.
Vineyard Golf Course
Very balanced course to play. The course was demanding but evenly having a challenge at each hole.
Cost vs Quality
If the greens are being airiated... it shouldn't be full cost. Full cost should be at least quality putting surface. A few were "under repair" with No warning. ! Otherwise this is a gorgeous course and challenging.
The greens were recently punched (with no notice of this fact). Putting was unrealistic.
Sandy greens
As all courses are going through maintenance this time of year, I wasn’t going to hold my putting accountable for my score today.
The staff here is outstanding. Extremely friendly check in, and great service at the turn.
A challenging and fun track. Bring Off Deep Woods. There are always quite a few gnats and flies.
Gnats and bare patches
$45 with a cart. Can’t beat the price. Make sure to bring deet spray for the back nine though. Holes 11-16 came with a constant buzzing of the at least 20 gnats swarming around me at all times. (No exaggeration) Couple bare patches in the fairway and a few patches taken out of the greens too (no idea how that happens, but there you have it) Tee boxes were nice and level. Layout can definitely be challenging, but apparently fair (if you’re better than me at hitting it straight anyway) Given the price though, definitely worth it.
Oh. They also recently punched and sanded the greens, so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about there soon. 2-3 weeks from now, the greens should be great. (Except for the parts on a couple that almost look like divots)
PUNCH in the Gut
This was my first time playing at Vineyard. I teed off at 8:30 and was surprised to find so many areas of the course saturated with water. But what was more surprising was the aerated greens. There was no alert on the Vineyard website or social media, nor was there a notification when booking the time on Golf Now. The greens were in poor condition following the aeration procedure and did not roll true. They were soft and held any approach within feet of the landing spot.
When checking in at the pro shop, I asked if it was a walkable course because I prefer to walk when playing. The front desk told me that I should ride because of the terrain on the back nine. While this course may have some undulation, I would say it is extremely walkable with only a couple holes where it is a long walk from green to tee. It would have been a much more enjoyable experience to walk instead of ride by myself.
The course is challenging but I found myself hitting the same/similar clubs on all of the par threes and on many fairway approaches. There are some holes that require a precise tee shot where driver is unnecessary. Many holes run parallel to one another, so errant tee shots may be played and recovered from a neighboring fairway.
Ok for recent over seeding
Fairways ok, greens just punched and full of sand and holes. So tricky to putt, but understood the why. Layout was interesting. Not bad for the price.
