Good Course
Nice course...one of the greens was tore up a bit, looked like train tracks running through the middle of it. But other than that, was a nice course. Teed off at 6:20, and was done by 10, with a foursome, that wasn't particularly fast.
Uber playable
I found this course set up for general amateur play about as good as it gets. Fairways and green conditions above average of courses I have played in San Diego and definitely equal to the amount charged for green fees. Rough was very good...reasonably long and pretty much free of the ugly spongy crap that alot of public courses think is necessary for penalizing a shot that misses the putting surface. Overall this course is very good value for your playing dollar.
All good, but....
The whole course is in great shape and lots of fun to play, but unfortunately, many people do not repair divots on the greens. They looked like battlefields, so our putting was not as good as it should have been.
Not in good shape
There were a few things that disappointed me about the course yesterday. First, and utmost was the pace of play. It was a Tuesday and there was no excuse for how slow it played. We sailed through the front nine yet caught the group in front of us and from that point, we had to wait roughly 10/15 minutes per hole and that's a problem!! And it's a problem that should have and could have been fixed with proper marshaling. What's worse is that they actually had a marshal on the course and I addressed it with him! Aside from that, the course itself was in rough shape. Many courses right now seem to be lacking and they blame it on Covid but I call bull****. It's an industry that has boomed during the pandemic so why aren't they maintaining things? They sure aren't charging less. Many of the greens were a mess, tee boxes were very long, fairways were patchy and dead in many spots. I think letting things like that go are going to make it really tough to get back into shape :(
Ball marks
I have never seen a course where the golf etiquette of repairing divots in the fairways and ball marks on the greens was so poor. Some greens had dozens of unrepared ball marks. Our golf cart divot repair bottles were both empty - maybe due to covid? Other than that it was an enjoyable experience.
Nice course. Nice challenge.
Nice course with some challenging holes. Some reachable par 5s for the intermediate golfer, but it's protected by the quick greens. Don't let the short holes fool you. Miss the greens on the approach and you'll pay the price.
Better have a range finder
I played here one week ago today (8/26). The course was in ok shape. Lots of dry areas on the fairways and greens. Many times I hit decent shots in the fairway and was rewarded with my ball sitting in a divot. There are only a few yardage markers on the course and they are grown over and hard to find, so bring a range finder or you’ll be guessing yardages all day. There is also a large gnat and fly issue on the back when it warms up.
To hot to play
Heat, humidity, bugs and a faulty golf swing had me picking up after 9 holes
