I wouldn’t play it again
I booked an early tee time. The course is in very poor conditions. The fairways are full of weeds and crabgrass. The bunkers are in terrible shape. There are numerous unmarked bald spots throughout the course. To make things worse, when we made the turn we discovered that apparently they schedule tee times off both 1 and 10. We played the front nine in 90 minutes. We came to a screeching halt on the back nine 90 minutes to play four holes. I would not recommend this course I played this course a few times in the past. It is definitely not the same course anymore. What a shame.
Nice 2 B Back
We have been playing up north due to COVID, nice to be back in SD again. I had an expectation that the courses would be in great shape, no one playing, chance to fix everything you can while the course is closed, but no, looks like no work was done, and it looks like they still have a lot to do to bring it back up to my standards and meet the price demand.
Greens
Greens a bit worn down. For 12:30 tee time would have expected a little better. Easy check-in...
Best value in San Diego
Pace of play can be a little slow at times, but the course is absolutely beautiful so you don’t really mind waiting. The course is right off of the freeway so it does not take too long to get to. The course is very well up kept and one of my favorite places to play. In my opinion this is the best value in San Diego for what you get!
Fun course , tough walk!
I got a walking ride from Golfnow which was reasonable but I picked a pretty hot day to do it, front nine wasn’t too tough to walk at the back nine was a bear! Are use a cart next time. The course was in nice shape, Greens rolling well. I really do like the layout on the back nine just some long walks from green to the next T on certain holes. The front nine is flatter back nine is hilly with some really good looking holes. I would play it again but like I said I’ll get an electric cart next time
First Time
Finally had a opportunity to golf here. I had a pleasant experience beautiful weather, paired with great golf partners. Being that COVID-19 is happening, the course is in good condition. The views were beautiful, the course was slow, bunched up at times. YES, Really miss the cart girl. The staff was helpful and explain the procedures. One note the bathroom was out of soap. Kinda hard to wash up properly with out soap I did Notify the staff. The process of checking in sucks, can’t check in till thirty minutes before tee time. Your not allowed to hit balls, putt, practice. Hopefully that will change
Course condition
Course condition Is terrible all employees at The chorus were friendly and accommodating. The course is just not in good condition but I do like the layout and can’t wait for it to come back to at least decent condition.
Steadily improving
Fairways are thin in spots but are improving each week. The greens are in great shape and are rolling true. No bunker play as of yet, but hopefully they will be back in the coming weeks.
Course condition is abominable
I live locally and have played this course since it first opened. I played yesterday; the course had been closed most of the past 2 months and it seems like they abandoned it for most of that period of time. The fairways over this past year have been spotty at best - really quite poor compared to prior years. Now, large sections simply need to be closed and reseeded. Areas around the green are ratty, overgrown and inconsistent. The traps are no longer traps: they're weed pits and have had zero maintenance. The water in the lakes seems to be stagnant. The greens are terribly soft and slow. All in all it was a terrible sight to see, particularly for someone who has played this course a lot.
In comparison, I've played three other local SD courses in the past couple of weeks all of which were in immaculate condition - obviously having taken advantage of the lack of play to do repairs and course maintenance...Escondido: time to change course management...the course is an embarrassment now.
Decent course conditions. Bunkers are terrible
The overall course is in decent shape. Greens were a bit fluffy and slow but that can be chalked up to the craziness of the world these days. The bunkers on the other hand.... so terrible. Most hard as a rock with no sand. Some with large crevasses in them. Most with grass growing inside and not maintained.
Surprisingly the pace of play was great. Played in under 4:30 which is fast for this course.
Staff did a great job with everything they had control over.
The rough was rough
I play here a lot. Most courses haven’t cut the rough, but they need too. Front nine greens were great, back was slow and spongy. Again, I understand the circumstances right now. Great course.
A good walk
Glad to have Vineyard back open. Arrived at 4 in afternoon without a reservation and was able to walk on as a single. It was pretty quiet since no carts are being used. Course was in much better condition than when I played a couple of months ago. Fairways were mostly healthy. Rough, however, has not been mowed in a while, so I lost a couple of balls just off fairway. Kind of a bummer but otherwise it was a nice outing. Bunkers are in terrible condition because they have not been taken care of in a while. Hope that changes soon.
No golf carts
When I arrived at the golf course I was informed that golf carts were not available. Golfnow was asked by the course to change this in their online booking. I played the front nine but neglected to play the back because of the severity of hillieness and the heat of the day.. I was told that all courses in the SD area are not renting carts except for handicapped golfers. Thanks Golfnow!!!
